Although the topic of this paper easily extends to other disciplines, only eddy-current inspections will be eonsidered here. Eddy-current inspections do not typically capture spatial information with the signal however, there are large benefits to be found by keeping the spatial component integrated with the eddy-current signal. First, we will explore different approaches to adding spatial data to an eddy-current inspection.

It is well established that GGA gives a better description of molecular systems, crystal surfaces and surface-molecule interactions. However, there are cases where the GGA results for solids are in much worse agreement with experiment than the LDA ones (e.g., 3-22 jj has been suggested that the effect of using GGA for solids is roughly equivalent to adding uniform tensile stress, and as a result lattice constants are frequently overestimated.

Cuello was excavated by Hammond and co-workers between 1975 and 1993. The Cuello excavations have been extensively described in the report edited by Hammond (1991). Of particular relevance here are the chapters on the ecology and subsistence economy (Ch. 4) by Miksicek and by Wing and Scudder, and on the human burials (Ch. 7), by Frank and Julie Saul. More recent publications have focused on the subsistence economy (Crane and Carr 1994) and on the human skeletal remains (Saul and Saul 1997).
