Thermoset processing resin transfer molding process

SCRIMP process This Seeman Composites Resin Infusion Process (SCRIMP) is described as a gas-assist resin transfer molding process. As an example glass fiber fabrics/ thermoset vinyl ester polyester plastic and polyurethane foam panels (for insulation) are placed in a segmented tool. A vacuum is pulled with a bag so that a huge amount of plastic can be drawn into the mold (Marco process approach). Its curved roof is made separately and bonded to the box with mechanical and adhesive fastening. It is similar to various reinforced plastics molding processes.

Misra et al. discovered that chicken feather fibers can be nsed as filters to remove heavy metals through the process of biosorption. Thermosetting resins are usually processed by compression molding, filament winding, hand lay-up, pultrusion, reaction injection molding (RIM, RRIM), resin transfer molding (RTM) and vacuum bagging.

Transfer, or plunger molding, is a process in which high-flow B-stage resins, such as epoxies, are liquefied under heat and pressure in a transfer pot, after which the resultant liquid resin is transferred under pressure into mold cavities. The transferred resin is then heated to form cured, final parts that are then removed from the mold. Although compression and transfer molding are used principally with thermosetting compounds, the processes are occasionally used with thermoplastic material, often thermoplastic composites.
