Autoclave nitrogen atmosphere

This decay rate is nearly equivalent to that exhibited by one g of radium in equilibrium with its disintegration products. In an alternative industrial process, resorcinol [108-46-3] is autoclaved with ammonia for 2—6 h at 200—230°C under a pressurized nitrogen atmosphere, 2.2—3.5 MPa (22—35 atm). Diammonium phosphate, ammonium molybdate, ammonium sulfite, or arsenic pentoxide maybe used as a catalyst to give yields of 60—94% with 85—90% selectivity for 3-aminophenol (67,68). A vapor-phase system operating at 320°C using a siUcon dioxide catalyst impregnated with gallium sesquioxide gives a 26—31% conversion of resorcinol with a 96—99% selectivity for 3-aminophenol (69). [Pg.311]

The 125 mL stainless steel autoclave was flushed with nitrogen. The 5-methylene-l,3-dioxolane-2-one, the ruthenium catalyst and dichloromethane (10 mL) were placed in the autoclave under a nitrogen atmosphere. [Pg.187]

A suspension of Os3(CO)12 (2g) in hexane (60 mL) is placed into a stirred stainless steel autoclave (450-mL total capacity), under a nitrogen atmosphere.5 After the autoclave is sealed, the gases are evacuated and the autoclave is pressurized to 25 atm of hydrogen. The autoclave is then heated with stirring to 140 °C for 24 h. After cooling, the gas is slowly vented. After coming to atmospheric pressure the autoclave is flushed with an atmosphere of nitrogen, and opened. [Pg.294]

The metals were either packed in high-purity graphite and heated in an Ar atmosphere or heated in a pure-nitrogen atmosphere up to 2500 K in a cold-wall autoclave. The temperature was recorded by thermocouples or two-color IR pyrometers. Gas pressures (mbar range up to 40 bar) were measured with piezoelectric gauges. The conditions were recorded on a PC equipped with an A/D converter. Extended heating periods could be maintained without any change in experimental conditions. [Pg.57]

Aqueous Na3C03 Treatments. Two samples of treated Illinois No. 6 run-of-mine coal were studied. One sample was treated in an autoclave under a pressure of 600 psi for one hour with 1.0 M Na2C03 at 250 C in a nitrogen atmosphere and washed subsequently wTth not... [Pg.74]

In the first step of manufacture of tetraethyllead, sodium-lead alloy is prepared by combining metallic sodium with molten lead in a ratio of 10 parts to 90 parts by weight. This ratio is one to one on an atom basis, and the resulting intermetallic compound NaPb is analyzed, cast, and broken up. Under a nitrogen atmosphere it is then loaded into hoppers holding a single autoclave charge. [Pg.58]

Reppe and coworkers644 described the N-vinylation of amides and lactams by acetylene. The amide and one percent by weight of potassium were heated in an autoclave at 140-160 °C in an acetylene-nitrogen atmosphere. A method to produce selectively either the E- or the Z-isomers has been described645. [Pg.504]

After the autoclave is cooled and vented, the stirred reaction mixture (solution of the product in benzene, aluminium in excess, impurities) is sucked by a polyethylene tube into a 0.5-L flask. This operation and those following are carried out in a protective nitrogen atmosphere. The solution of the product in benzene is separated from the reaction mixture by filtration (or decantation). A medium-porosity fritted-glass filter is used for the filtration (see Figure 3). [Pg.151]

Palmer et a/.114 have studied the conversion of coal + PE and coal + PP mixtures in autoclave reactors under a nitrogen atmosphere. From the conversion of the individual components, the authors calculated the theoretical conversion of the mixtures assuming that no interactions between the two components take place. Figures 4.33(A) and (B) compare the predicted and measured conversions corresponding to a 1/1 coal + PE mixture at different... [Pg.115]

Polymerizations were carried out in a thermostated laboratory autoclave (Buchi) under dry nitrogen atmosphere. In the case of IB the reaction vessel was charged with solvents -hexane/CH2Cl2 (2/1 v/v) followed by D/BP and TMPCl. The mixture was cooled to -78 °C and a background spectrum of 128 scans was taken before addition of IB. After adequate mixing the reaction was started by addition of TiCU and quenched with methanol after complete conversion ([IB]o = 1 M, [TiCU] = 0.02 M, [TMPCl] = 4 mM, [DrBP] = 2 mM). Samples were taken at specified times into chilled sample tubes containing methanol for parallel gravimetric analysis. [Pg.70]
