Thermoanalytical test

Thermoanalytical (TA) methods characterize a system in terms of the temperature dependency of its thermodynamic properties and the physiochem-ical reaction kinetics of TPs and TSs. The techniques reviewed here only include differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and thermomechanical analysis (TMA). Others also are available, which are useful in the processing plant (1, 2). [Pg.343]

In order for valid thermoanalytical measurements to be taken, strict control must be maintained over the thermal schedules to which the tested specimens are exposed. In this section,... [Pg.28]

The manufacturers of thermoanalytical equipment offer sample and reference containers made of a variety of materials. A suitable choice of the container material is very important as one aim of the test is to simulate the substance or substance mixture behaviour imder normal as well as upset process conditions. [Pg.30]

The Arrhenius coefficients, E and A, may be found by plotting ln[-ln (l-a)/7 ] versus VT. To validate of the methods, a series of original and modified samples from the oil shales listet in Table 4-150 were tested by thermoanalytical methods. The samples were designated as follows ... [Pg.332]

Type 1 hazards are easily assessed using well established test methods El fis], e.g. the thermoanalytical micro-methods DTA or DSC> a test established by Lutolf m, which is now standard in Swiss firms or the "Sikarex" ca- However, the elaboration of safe reaction conditions (which avoid type 2 hazards)is still a problem. [Pg.45]

The basic thermoanalytical methods reveal changes in the state of the sample by direct determination of the sample single property. In addition to such most widespread measurements of the pre-selected physical property of the sample [3], indirect measurements can also be carried out to follow the properties of the sample adjacent environment as an implied response to changes in the sample properties. If the sample property serves, at the same time, as a measured quantity to indicate the requested property of the test material, we deal with single arrangement, such as temperature in the case of heating and cooling curves. Differential methods are those in which the measured quantity is the... [Pg.380]

Thermoanalytical methods, such as TG, where degradation of a material can be measured under conditions that accelerate its rate and the resulting parameters extrapolate to predict a service lifetime could have great commercial importancel" in the construction industry. They could be used not only for planning economic replacement before catastrophic failure occurs or avoiding premature replacement, but also for developing specifications for quality assurance and control tests and formulations. [Pg.14]

The applicability of thermoanalytical techniques for characterizing roof membrane materials was supported by studies carried out in the early 90s.[ l"t46] jjj 1993 Paroli, et al.,l l also published the results of a study on the effects of accelerated heat aging on three poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) roofing membranes using TG, DMA, and tensile testing. The results... [Pg.622]

The results ofthe inter-laboratory study showed that the exposures produced only minor ehanges in the measured thermoanalytical properties. The materials tested were generally stable under the outdoor and laboratory exposure conditions. In the ease of TG analysis of the pyrolyzable organic constituents, it was found that the method showed rather good within- and between-laboratory variability. The number of participants in the d5mamic mechanical/TPA analysis was limited hence, no conclusion was made regarding the variability within and between laboratories. In the ease of... [Pg.624]

The aim of this paper is to study the strength characteristics of WC-Co composites in connection with thermoanalytic-al investigation and raetallographic-fractographic examination, to compeire the possibilities of three and four-point bend tests in hardmetal research and to study the subcritical crack growth parameters of these materials. [Pg.171]

Due to its importance in many fields of engineering and industry, wood is investigated by a broad spectrum of different methods, including all kinds of chemical analysis and chemical decomposition into its main components hemicellu-lose, cellulose and lignin, many physical procedures and some microbiological tests. They will be cited - if necessary - in connection with the presentation of thermoanalytical results. [Pg.767]
