A semi-batch cultivation of a Prasinophyceae, Tetraselmis sp.Tt-1, was examined using a SOL scale tubular bioreactor under lamps with a view to estimating its performance. The mean productivity of more than 20g/mVday could be obtained by fixing the flow rate of the culture medium at 0.5m/s, which was the maximum in this apparatus, by drawing a partial medium once in two days, and by adjusting an initial cell concentration to 0.5-1.0g/L. A long-term and stable cultivation for more than two months could be carried out by this system. [Pg.649]

A microalga used in this study was Tetraselmis sp.strain Tt-1 [1] which was isolated from seawater ladled at the Sagami Bay in Japan. The f/2 medium [5, 6] was prepared as described previously [7], and was used with a slight modification concentrations of nitrate and phosphate were enriched 4 times and 8 times, respectively. The semi-batch cultivation of this strain was carried out using a tubular... [Pg.650]

In summary, Tetraselmis sp.Tt-1 could be used as a partial substitute of kenaf pulps and an agent for surface improvement of kenaf pulp paper as in the case of hardwood pulp paper. [Pg.652]

Some studies attempted further characterization of the arsenic compounds in algae [137], which involved the growth of microalgae, Tetraselmis chuii [138], Chaetoceros concavicornis [139] in media containing radiolabeled arsenate. [Pg.877]

The A. tonsa used in this study were obtained from Guernsey Sea Farms (Vale, Guernsey) as age-standardised adults. On arrival they were transferred to a temperature-controlled room (20 2°C) with artificial illumination on a 16 h light/8h dark automatic cycle. They were maintained under these conditions prior to the start of the toxicity test. The seawater in which the A. tonsa were transported was not renewed or aerated during this time. The A. tonsa were transferred to a 101 glass vessel that was topped up with seawater and then they were fed ad libitum with a mixed algal diet (Pavlova lutheri and Tetraselmis suecica) supplied by Guernsey Sea Farms. [Pg.319]
