The sulfoxidation of normal Cl4-CI7 paraffins with sulfur dioxide, oxygen, and water is performed under UV radiation in parallel reactors (1 in Fig. 3). The reaction enthalpy is dissipated by cooling of the paraffin in heat exchangers. The 30- to 60-kW UV lamps are cooled by a temperature-controlled water cycle. The reaction mixture leaving the reactors separates spontaneously into two phases in 2. The lighter paraffin phase is recirculated to the reactors. The composition of the heavy raw acid phase is shown in Table 5. [Pg.150]

MK2 peristaltic tube pumps were used to feed the CCS. The CCS was coimected to a Julabo MV basis temperature controlled water bath (accuracy 0.01°C). The water bath was set at 70°C. The CCS was operated in a once-through operation. The CCS was fed with 12.6 ml/min of pure sunflower oil. Subsequently, the centrifuge was started (40 Hz, which corresponds to 2400 rpm). As soon as the oil started flowing out of the heavy phase outlet, the reaction was started by feeding the methanolic NaOMe solution (containing 1% w/w NaOMe with regard to snnflower oil) at 3.15 mL/min. [Pg.45]

The experiments were performed in a CINC V-02 separator also known as the CS-50 (15). Two Verder VL 500 control peristaltic tube pumps equipped with a double pump head (3,2 x 1,6 x 8R) were used to feed the CCS. In case of the enzymatic reaction, the low mix bottom plate was applied. To operate the reactor at a desired temperature, it was equipped with a jacket which was coimected to a temperature controlled water bath with an accuracy of 0.01°C. The CCS was fed with pure heptane and pure water, both with a flow rate of 6 mL/min. Subsequently, the centrifuge was started (40 Hz, which corresponds to 2400 rpm) and the set-up was allowed to equilibrate for a period of 1 h. At this point, the heptane feed stream was replaced by the organic feed stream (oleic acid (0.6M) and 1-bntanol (0.9M) in heptane). After equilibration for 10 minutes, the reaction in the CCS was started by replacing the water stream with the aqueous feed stream (0.1 M phosphate buffer pH 5.6 containing 1 g/1 of the lipase form Rhizomucor miehei). Samples were taken at regular intervals and analysed by GC. [Pg.45]

Water inlet and outlet. These are often connected to temperature-controlled water recirculating baths. The prisms and your samples in the prisms can all be kept at the temperature of the water. [Pg.223]

The temperature is important in refractive index measurements since the refractive index generally decreases with temperature. To maintain the sample at a constant temperature, temperature-controlled water is circulated around the prisms. [Pg.429]

If the refractometer uses a temperature-controlled water bath, ensure that the temperature is set properly and the pumps are circulating the temperature-controlled water through the sampling platform of the refractometer. [Pg.457]

Use a suitable apparatus connected with a recirculating temperature-controlled water bath set at 10°C and gels for isoelectric focusing with a pH gradient of 3.5-9.5. Operate the apparatus in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions. Use as the anode solution phosphoric acid R (98 g/1 H3PO4) and as the cathode solution 1 M sodium hydroxide. Samples are applied to the gel by filter papers. Place sample application filters on the gel close to the cathode. [Pg.521]

Set up a 50-ml round-bottom flask, 100-ml addition funnel (with no side arm), threaded adaptor, screw cap with septum, magnetic stir bar, magnetic stir plate, and temperature-controlled water bath as shown in Figure Gl.6.2. [Pg.1073]

Replication of time and temperature conditions is crucial. Consistent sample conditions must be carefully followed to be able to compare samples. Temperature can be controlled by placing vials in a temperature-controlled water bath or by placing the sample in a jacketed vessel. Time can be carefully monitored using a stopwatch. Consistency in sampling time is imperative autosamplers do a good job in this respect. [Pg.1077]

Turn on the temperature-controlled water bath and set the temperature to 30°C. Allow the water bath to heat and equilibrate for 30 min before measuring the viscosity of any fluids. Verify the water bath temperature with a thermometer before proceeding. [Pg.1154]

Since viscosity is temperature dependent, the temperature-controlled water bath should be checked daily for accuracy. [Pg.1156]

The prepared emulsions were transferred to preweighed centrifuge tubes of 15 ml capacity, which were sealed with rubber septa. A mild centrifugation (1500 rpm, less than 1 min) was employed to pack the concentrated emulsions into the tubes when necessary. Polymerizations were conducted in a temperature-controlled water bath in the presence of air. After polymerization, the concentrated emulsion was dispersed by adding water to the tube and agitating with a spatula. The aqueous system was then poured into methanol and the precipitated polymer was separated by filtration. [Pg.18]

C14W) that has an internal loop volume of 60 nL. The mobile phase then enters the colunm at the end of which is a UV detector (Jasco UV-1S70). The pressure in the system is determined by a back pressure regulator (Jasco BP1S80-81) which is located downstream of the UV detector. The column and the injection valve are housed in a temperature controlled water bath. Upstream and downstream pressures are measured using pressure transducers (Trafag 8891). [Pg.206]
