The MedChem database [64] contains the largest publicly available collection of more than 60,000 measurements of log P and log P> values, and it is available as a commercial product from BioByte Inc. (http //www.biobyte.com). This database provided experimental support for the development of the CLOGP program [65,66]. The PHYSPROP database [14] of Syracuse Research Inc. provides experimental logP values for 13,058 compounds. This database is publicly available at http //esc.syrres.com/interkow/KowwinData.htm. [Pg.251]

Ktihne et al. [105] used MP and 23 structural parameters to correlate the vapor pressure of 1838 hydrocarbons and halogenated hydrocarbons. The neural network model was built using 1200 compounds and provided a mean absolute error of 0.13 log units for the test set of 638 compounds. It should be noted that the authors predicted vapor pressure as a function of the temperature and total number of data points for model development was 8148. The MP and BP are also used in MPBPVP program developed by Syracuse Research Inc [101]. [Pg.257]

One of the most important contributions to this field was provided by Stein and Brown [117], who extended Joback and Reid s group contribution method [122], The authors calculated 85 group contributions and used a nonlinear quadratic equation to correctly predict BP at high temperatures. The authors calculated MAE = 15.5 K for a set of 4426 compounds and predicted another independent set of 6584 compounds with MAE = 20.4 K. The method was further parameterized by Syracuse Research Inc using 6484 compounds and was used in the MPBPVP program [101]. [Pg.259]

Programs such as QMPRPlus (SimulationPlus, Inc.) and WSKOWIN (EPISUITE available from the Environmental Protection Agency website, Syracuse Research Corporation, Inc.) can be used to predict aqueous solubility directly (see Chapters 3 and 4). As log Kow inversely correlates reasonably well with aqueous solubility for many compounds, programs that are available to predict log Kow may also be useful in preliminary screens for aqueous solubility. [Pg.246]

The major health impacts of phthalates supported by recent studies and showing an association significant at p > 0.05 were summarized by Meeker et al. (2009b) as well as by Wargo (2008) and are shown in Table 7.7. A detailed discussion of the adverse impacts or mechanisms of endocrine disruption are beyond the scope of this chapter. Several excellent reviews (Committee on the Health Risks of Phthalates, National Research Council, 2001 Versar, Inc. and Syracuse Research Corporation, 2010) discuss the various biological impacts of exposure to phthalate. [Pg.203]

The alternative pillow test was originated by Tom Stephens of Ten Cate in about 2005 (Ten Cate Geosynthetics, Inc., 2007) and formalized as a standard in 2009 (GRTGT15). The only related references in the open literature are the work of Professor Bhatia and her students at Syracuse University, who developed and conducted research on a similar test which they called the pressure filtration test (Bhatia and Liao, 2004 Satyamurthy et al., 2008, 2009). Hydraulic pressures were measured and quantitative data were produced but the laboratory configuration was different from the field-simulated pillow test, which is described subsequently. [Pg.486]
