Synergistic activities

Bates, Hewlett, and Lloyd (2) therefore studied the synergistic effects of some compounds related to 2-diethylaminoethyl 2,2-diphenyl-w-pentanoate on the insecticidal activity of pyrethrins. They found active compounds when a 2-diethylamino moiety was joined to the diphenylmethyl moiety through an ester, ketone, or ether linkage. However, none of the compounds investigated approached piperonyl butoxide in synergistic activity with pyrethrins. [Pg.48]

Besides their interesting color application values, betalainic plants are also worthwhile from a nutritional standpoint. Research on this topic has recently been resumed with great scientific vigor in both in vitro and in vivo studies on red beets, amaranth, red-colored Swiss chard, red-violet pitahayas, and especially cactus pears. ° In the future, betalainic color crops will be benchmarked because of their pigment structure and quantity and also because of the individual and synergistic activities of their components such as colorless phenolics, amino compounds, peptides, proteins, and hydrocolloids. [Pg.290]

In the CIT/MIT blend the chlorinated species has by far the greater biocidal efficacy but is also the less stable of the two components. Although MIT alone has relatively low antimicrobial performance it has recently been discovered that this compound has truly synergistic activity when combined with BIT and such a blend has several advantages over CIT/MIT products. [Pg.79]

A1 adenosine receptors are inhibitory in the central nervous system. A receptors were originally characterized on the basis of their ability to inhibit adenylyl cyclase in adipose tissue. A number of other G-protein-mediated effectors of A receptors have subsequently been discovered these include activation of K+ channels, extensively characterized in striatal neurons [13], and inhibition of Ca2+ channels, extensively characterized in dorsal root ganglion cells [14]. Activation of A receptors has been shown to produce a species-dependent stimulation or inhibition of the phosphatidylinositol pathway in cerebral cortex. In other tissues, activation of A receptors results in synergistic activation of the phosphatidylinositol pathway in concert with Ca2+-mobilizing hormones or neurotransmitters [15]. The effectors of A adenosine receptors and other purinergic receptor subtypes are summarized in Table 17-2. [Pg.313]

Stimulation of AC2, AC4, and AC7 by GPy complexes is not only dependent on the presence of G but leads to synergistic activation of these AC enzymes. As is the case for inhibition of AC1, the concentration of GPy required for activation of AC2, AC4, and AC7 is higher than for G s. This implies that activation of neurotransmitter receptors coupled to G or Grai/G()K, maybe able to activate adenylyl cyclase subtypes, and these responses could be synergistic under certain conditions. AC2, AC4 and AC7 are not directly influenced by Gai or G. ... [Pg.365]

BAY 41-2272 is a novel non-NO-based soluble GC activator. It produced a marked inhibition of platelet aggregation in washed platelets and PRP, however, with much lower potency in PRP. Both NO and prostacyclin exhibited synergistic activity with BAY 41-2272 to inhibit platelet aggregation. In vivo, BAY 41-2272 significantly reduced blood pressure in rats, but it had only a small effect on FeCl3-induced thrombosis [107]. [Pg.247]
