D is basically a succession of 2D or 3D surveys repeated at intervals of time during which it is expected that some production effect has occurred, of sufficient magnitude to effect the acoustic impedance contrast seen by the propagating waves. For example, this oould be changes in the water or gas saturation, or changes in pressure. 

Primary Investigation. The basic systems engineering approach is the most suitable method for developing a solution to industrial wastewater management. The preliminary investigation includes a plant survey and the characterization of the wastewater source. 

D. R. Cox, P/anning of Experiments,]ohxi Wiley Sons, Inc., New York, 1958. This book provides a simple survey of the principles of experimental design and of some of the most usehil experimental schemes. It tries "as far as possible, to avoid statistical and mathematical technicalities and to concentrate on a treatment that will be intuitively acceptable to the experimental worker, for whom the book is primarily intended." As a result, the book emphasizes basic concepts rather than calculations or technical details. Chapters are devoted to such topics as "Some key assumptions," "Randomization," and "Choice of units, treatments, and observations."... 

Typical of the temporary or manufacturing aid coating systems is the RISTON dry film photoresist for printed circuit (PC) board fabrication. This was the first of these systems developed. The RISTON product stmcture and the basic steps in its use are shown in Figure 2. It consists of a photopolymer sheet laminated between a Mylar cover sheet and a polyolefin separation sheet. It is manufactured as a continuous web (see Coating PROCESSES, survey), and is suppHed in roUs of varying width and photopolymer composition. 

The 16 possible motifs shown in Figure 2.21b never occur. Even if this database is limited compared with the universe of existing proteins, the survey clearly demonstrates that a few topological arrangements occur much more frequently than others, and that most possible complex motifs never occur or occur only in a few cases. In 1995 a preliminary survey of a much larger database of known structures yielded the same basic conclusions. 

In what follows, some of these approaches will be further discussed. A very detailed and exhaustive survey of the various basic techniques and the problems that have been treated with them will be found in the first comprehensive text on computational materials science , by Raabe (1998). Another book which covers the principal techniques in great mathematical detail and is effectively focused on materials, especially polymers, is by Frenkel and Smit (1996). 

Fluid bed reactors became important to the petroleum industry with the development of fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) early in the Second World War. Today FCC is still widely used. The following section surveys the various fluid bed processes and examines the benefits of fluidization. The basic theories of fluidization phenomena are also reviewed. 

The assessment of exposure brings together all the data and compares the results of this integration with the chosen OEL. It begins with an initial appraisal and continues with a basic survey and then a detailed one until it is confirmed either that exposure exceeds the limit value or that it is sufficiently below that limit. 

The world of colloidal particles is large and fasdnating. Basic simulation techniques rapidly lead to challenging questions and new things to be discovered. Computer simulations are close enough to experiments to allow intellectual inspiration as well as a quantitative comparison of the results. We have reviewed the basic simulation techniques and their principal implementation but could only briefly mention advanced techniques and results. A survey of the recent literature shows the variety of physical effects present in colloidal systems and accessible to computer simulations. 

The rig selection will dictate the basic layout of the pad. Based on the necessary area needed to support its functions, ancillary equipment may be added in space conservative measures. In addition to the placement of various stationary rig site components, other operations such as logging, trucking and subsequent completion operations must be provided for. The most environmentally sensitive design will impact the least amount of area, and in that it will be the most economic. Potential pad sites and access routes should be laid out on a topographic map prior to the actual survey. At this time, construction costs can be estimated and compared. Figure 4484 shows such a layout. The cost of building a location includes the cost of reclamation such as any remediation. 

Recall that the basic notions of abstr2ict automata and formal language theory were very briefly touched upon in our introductory survey in section 2.1.5. 

In the bibliography, we have tried to concentrate the interest on contributions going beyond the Hartree-Fock approximation, and papers on the self-consistent field method itself have therefore not been included, unless they have also been of value from a more general point of view. However, in our treatment of the correlation effects, the Hartree-Fock scheme represents the natural basic level for study of the further improvements, and it is therefore valuable to make references to this approximation easily available. For atoms, there has been an excellent survey given by Hartree, and, for solid-state, we would like to refer to some recent reviews. For molecules, there does not seem to exist something similar so, in a special list, we have tried to report at least the most important papers on molecular applications of the Hartree-Fock scheme, t... 

It is not possible to survey the presently existing battery technology here, but much recent information is contained in Ref. [1], and extensive basic literature is contained in Ref. [2], also scheduled to be re-issued...

The sections can be used in two ways they provide a useful, succinct review of basic material to which students can refer for extra help as they progress through the course, or they can be used in class as a quick survey of material before starting the main text.
