Stacks steel

The stacked steel plates were manufactured by milling [48]. The PTFE tubes were home-made by means of turning and milling. [Pg.403]

Semi-submersible rigs are often referred to as semis , and are a floating type of rig. Like the jack-up, a semi is self contained. The structure is supported by large pontoons which are ballasted with water to provide the required stability and height. The rig is held in position by anchors and mooring lines or dynamically positioned by thrusters. A large diameter steel pipe ( riser ) is connected to the sea-bed and serves as a conduit for the drill string. The blowout preventer (BOP) is also located at the sea-bed ( sub sea stack ). [Pg.33]

In the case of the fibrous laminate not much work has been done, but it has been observed that a significant loss of stiffness in boron—aluminum laminate occurs when cycled in tension—tension (43,44). Also, in a manner similar to that in the laminated PMCs, the ply stacking sequence affects the fatigue behavior. For example, 90° surface pHes in a 90°/0° sequence develop damage more rapidly than 0° pHes. In the case of laminates made out of metallic sheets, eg, stainless steel and aluminum, further enhanced resistance against fatigue crack propagation than either one of the components in isolation has been observed (45). [Pg.203]

Finish removers are manufactured in open or closed ketdes. Closed ketdes are preferred because they prevent solvent loss and exposure to personnel. To reduce air emissions from the solvents, condensers are employed on vent stacks. Mild steel or black iron ketdes are used for neutral or basic removers stainless steel (316 or 317) or reinforced polyethylene ketdes are used for acidic removers. The ketdes are heated to increase dispersion of paraffin waxes and aid in the mixing of other ingredients. Electric or air driven motors drive either sweeping blade or propeller mixers that give sufficient lift to rotate and mix the Hquid. Dispenser-type mixers are used to manufacture thick and viscous removers. Ketde, fittings, mixer, and fill equipment must be fabricated with materials resistant to the chemicals in remover formulas. [Pg.553]

Tf > 13% has been achieved for a three-stacked cell on a stainless steel substrate, and Tf > 10% for large area modules on a glass substrate that exhibit <15% degradation over several hundred hours of constant testing (7). [Pg.362]

Parallel-Leaf Cartridge. A parallel-leaf cartridge consists of several flat plates, each having membrane sealed to both sides (Fig. 13). The plates have raised (2—3 mm) rails along the sides in such a way that, when they are stacked, the feed can flow between them. They are clamped between two stainless-steel plates with a central tie rod. Permeate from each leaf drains into an annular channel surrounding the tie rod (33). [Pg.301]

Wood and Wood-Lined Steel Pipe Douglas fir, white pine, redwood, and cypress are the most common woods used for wood pipe. Wood-lined steel pipe is suitable for temperatures up to 82°C (180°F) and for pressures from 1.4 MPa (200 Ibhin ) for the 4-in size, through 0.86 MPa (125 IbFin ) for the 10-in size, to 0.7 MPA (100 Ibf/ in") for sizes larger than 10 in. For fume stacks and similar uses, wood-stave pipe with rods on 0.3-m (1-ft) centers is most satisfactory because it permits periodic tightening. In recent years reinforced plastics have supplanted wood pipe in most applications. [Pg.978]

The bipolar plates are made from either Type 310 or Type 316 stainless steel, which is coated on the fuel side with nickel and aluminized in the seal area around the edge of the plates. Both internally and externally manifolded stacks have been developed. [Pg.2413]

The body is impact extruded from a cold forming steel. The characteristic dimension to be analysed in the tolerance stack is the base thickness of 3 mm (on a 020 mm bore) and this dimension has been assigned a tolerance of 0.02 mm. [Pg.101]

Insulation - The steel shell of the stack is lined for its entire length with monolithic type castable refractory. [Pg.258]

Size, Spacing and Number of Burner Jets - The jet nozzles are 380 mm lengths of 25 mm stainless steel pipe. They discharge vertically from the horizontal burner lines, which run across the bottom of the stack. The jet nozzles are not insulated. [Pg.261]

If provided, thermocouples shall be protected by inconel sheathing and shall terminate in a steel or cast iron juntion box located four (4) feet above grade at the base of the flare stack. [Pg.305]

Gases are diseharged into the ambient atmosphere by means of staeks (referred to as chimneys by some in industry) of several t> pes. Stub or short stacks are usually fabrieated of steel and e.xtend a minimum distanee up from the diseharge of an indueed draft fan. These are eonstrueted of steel plate, either unlined or refraetory-lined, or entirely of refraetory and struetural briek. Tall... [Pg.146]

The most fundamental difference found between onshore and offshore drilling occurs when the wellhead is located at the seafloor. This configuration makes communication with the well more complex. A marine riser provides communication and circulation capability between the surface and the seafloor, and is used at some point during most offshore drilling. The riser consists of large-diameter (17-20) in.) steel pipe joints of approximately 50-ft lengths, with quick-connect couplings. The riser can be connected at the seafloor to a wellhead or to a subsea blowout preventer stack. A diverter system is usually attached at the... [Pg.1364]

Tubular structures are easier to coat than those produced from profiled metal, e.g. a flare stack constructed of welded tubes can increase the life of a brush- or roller-applied paint system by as much as four times over the same process applied to a similar structure built of welded angled steel. [Pg.330]
