Carbon dioxide measurements require specialist test equipment and were not carried out in the context of this quick evaluation. The office survey did not detect any subjective phenomena to suggest a problem with CO2 concentrations. The results of the subjective evaluations are presented in Table 13.9 and Table 13.10. Table 13.9 shows that respondents reported that the control room was both too cold and too hot, in addition to too little air movement and the air being too dry. Measurement of temperature (sampled range was between 20.1 and 22°C with a mean of 21°C) and relative humidity (sampled range was between 30.6 and 35.7% with a mean of 33.8%) showed that they were within acceptable limits. Table 13.10 shows the reports of symptoms experienced by people in the control room that may be associated with the environmental conditions. Over half of the respondents reported sore throats and congested noses, and approximately half reported sore eyes, mental fatigue, headache, and tiredness. [Pg.319]

Various methods exists. Consult specialist tests for methodology. [Pg.627]

In doing this the problems may arise if one person alone manages several processes, i.e. if his activity embraces a number of functions (as may be especially typical for NDT). It is better if each process is assigned to a specialist responsible for it. For example, persons responsible for the technical state of NDT equipment, for metrological confirmation of NDT facilities, for standards on testing, for NDT results registration, etc. [Pg.954]

Metrological attestation of the procedure of testing is realized by the developing organization with the aid of experts - specialists in NDT. Metrological attestation of the procedure of testing is performed after accumulation of statistical data. [Pg.961]

The seminars in Slavsk, exhibitions in Kiev and Dniperopetrovsk have already become traditional. The first Ukrainian Scientific-Technical Conference on Technical Diagnostics and Non-Destructive Testing in Ukraine was held in September 1994 in Dniepropetrovsk. More than 200 specialists participated in the Conference, an exhibition was held, and 80 presentations were made... [Pg.967]

Color Vision Defects. Anomalous color vision is present, eg, if one of the three sets of cones is iaoperative (dichromacy) or defective (anomalous trichromacy). This affects 2—3% of the population with males mote prone because these defects reside on the X-chromosome, with one present ia males but two ia females. Eye specialists have standard tests for detecting these and other defects. Summaries of this whole field are available (6,9,22). [Pg.408]

Once the initial choice of promising separator types is made, representative hquid-solid samples should be obtained for preliminaiy tests. At this point, a detailed test program should be developed, preferably with the advice of a specialist. [Pg.1749]

Table A.4, taken from the CCPS Guidelines for Chemical Reactivity Evaluation and Application to Process Design, shows the questions which need to be asked regarding the safety of the proposed reaction, the data required to answer those questions and some selected methods of investigation. The experimental analysis is extremely specialized, and companies should consider outsourcing the tests if they do not have specialists in this area. The method of treatment selected depends on many factors, such as the nature of the salts and the pH of the water, and the assistance of a reputable specialist company is necessary to carry out regular testing and an analysis report. [Pg.155]

The price per m of the other noble gases is considerably higher (Ne 70, Kr 350 and Xe 3500, and this tends to restrict their usage to specialist applications only. Radon has been used in the treatment of cancer and as a radioactive source in testing metal castings but, because of its short half-life (3.824 days) it has been superseded by more convenient materials. Such small quantities as are required are obtained as a decay product of Ra (1 g of which yields 0.64 cm in 30 days). [Pg.890]

Scale-up techniques for using the results of pilot plant or bench scale test w ork to establish the equivalent process results for a commercial or large scale plant mixing system design require careful specialized considerations and usually are best handled by the mixer manufacturer s specialist. The methods to accomplish scale-up will vary considerably, depending on whether the actual operation is one of blending, chemical reaction tvith product concentrations, gas dispersions, heat transfer, solids suspensions, or others. [Pg.312]

Test data should be planned by know ledgeable specialists in order to obtain the range, accuracy, and scope of needed data to achieve a pre-established mixing process result... [Pg.315]

The Competent Person should have sufficient practical and theoretical knowledge and actual experience of the types of plant he is charged with examining and testing as will enable him to detect faults and weaknesses. He should have the maturity to seek such specialist advice and assistance as will be required to enable him to make the necessary judgements. He should also be able to assess the importance of any faults or weaknesses in relation to the strength and function of the plant before he is required to certify it as suitable to carry out its specified duty. The Competent Person should have access to the equipment, specialist s... [Pg.142]

Clearly, there are horses for courses . The practicing plant engineer may have access to a local specialist in certain types of non-destructive testing who provides an excellent service and value for money. At the same time, the plant engineer must be vigilant regarding the limitations of such support. [Pg.142]

A number of standards exist for the determination of some of these parameters. BS 1377 Part 3 1990 refers to methods of tests for soils for civil engineering purposes, and Part 9 refers to these and corrosivity tests in situ. It is significant that the standard draws attention to the fact that the results of the tests that are described should be interpreted by a specialist. ASTM tests for pH and resistivity of soil used for corrosion testing are covered by G51 1977(R1984) and G57 1978 (R1984), respectively. [Pg.1077]

PLASTEC s staff of specialists offers professional services in a wide range of interest such as packaging, electronics, deterioration (eg — weathering, microbiological, compatibility), new materials, composites, foams, adhesives, specifications, test methods, tooling and processing, etc. At the direction of DoD these technical services are available to the entire US scientific and technical community... [Pg.787]

Pharmaceutical sites will usually create a dedicated team of validation specialists to coordinate all validation activities. They should operate according to a validation master plan that has been developed using risk analysis to identify the most critical systems requiring validation/re-validation. Before validating a system or process, a written protocol should be prepared that describes the system, the critical aspects, the objectives, the test methods and the acceptance criteria that will be applied. A validation report should be prepared on completion of each protocol. [Pg.224]
