Special tools/equipment section

This section includes any special tools or equipment that the procedure user must have in order to perform the procedure. This prevents the procedure users from completing half of a procedure and then finding out that they need a tool to finish. The section can include personal protective equipment such as respirators, tools such as a micrometer, or objects such as spool pieces or chemicals. [Pg.45]

Multi-shot processes, as the name implies, require multiple shots of material to make a single component. For each one of these materials an injection unit is required. To mould these multiple shots also requires special tooling and equipment. Multi-shot capability can be built either into the injection tool or controlled by the injection moulding machine. To enable multi-shot, multiple injection units can be arranged to feed machines in a number of ways as the next section will explain. [Pg.242]

Uses. Used in various superconductor applications and for cutting tools. Nb steels are very heat resistant. Niobium has a good resistance towards corrosive chemicals even at high temperature it is used in the construction of chemical equipment even if it is not as resistant as tantalum. Nb has a low neutron capture cross-section and it is especially resistant towards liquid sodium corrosion it finds applications in the nuclear industry. Nb is very malleable and easy to shape and may be used in special jewellery this is also because it is possible to give it beautiful colours (thin-film interference colours) by heating in air or, better, by controlled anodization. [Pg.405]

A variety of simple, accurate, and professional tools are available to measure water table depths to an accuracy of 0.2 cm. These instruments consist of a wire with a metal tip that is lowered and upon hitting the water an electrical circuit closes, indicating the water table (Fig. 4.2). The wire is marked for depth readings. The described mode of water table measurement can be performed only in an open, unequipped well. A pumped well can be specially equipped for water table measurements, and this is of interest as it reveals the local dynamics of the lowering of the water table due to abstraction (section 4.6). [Pg.66]

Special extrusion tools may be necessary to feed the mass to the orifice(s.) Orifice dimensions define resistive force and cross section of extrudate. Orifice design must enable flow and assist in pressure release at discharge. Cutting devices may be necessary or desirable to divide strand into pellets. Drive must be capable of sustaining mixing, conditioning and extrusion. Individual process steps may be carried out in-line in separate equipment. [Pg.301]

Retractable pin tool In cases where there is no other solution, a retractable pin tool can be considered. The retractable pin tool is described in section 11.5, Secial Peripheral Equipment. This is a special peripheral solution that allows the pin of the tool to retract up into the shoulder over time. This can be used in circumferential welding or FSP apphca-tions. The use of this peripheral equipment increases the stiffness and intelhgence requirements of the machine. To be effective, the retractable pin technology requires the retraction of the pin to occur in a prewelded area or in an area of parent material away from the joint line. This may require the FSW machine to have additional axes. [Pg.223]

Where the site of a nuclear power plant requires consideration of the effects of an aircraft crash at or near the site, a fire hazard analysis of such an event should be made. It should be taken into account in this analysis that fires may occur at several locations because of the spreading of the aircraft s fuel. Smoke may also be produced at several locations. Spedal equipment such as foam generators and entrenching tools as well as specially trained on-site and off-site fire fighting personnel may be used to prevent such fires from penetrating structures containing items important to safety. (See Ref. [6], Section 2.)... [Pg.47]
