Solvent process for

Two solvent processes for preparation of Ca(OCl)2 have been described. In one, a CCl solution of /-C H OCl is allowed to react with a thin lime slurry and the aqueous phase, a solution of Ca(OCl)2, is evaporated to a product with a purity of >95% (217). In the other, a solution of HOCl in methyl ethyl ketone reacts with either CaO or Ca(OH)2 (133). FoUowing filtration, the residual solvent in the product is removed under vacuum. [Pg.471]

Since pyrolizing gasifiers yield olefins and aromatics in the raw gas, these compounds tend also to occur in the acid gas stream. Physical solvent processes for acid gas extraction, such as cold methanol wash, especially tend to take hydrocarbons into the acid gas stream water solutions have less tendency to do so. [Pg.59]

The wax cake obtained from paraffin-distillate solvent dewaxing sweats more readily than that obtained from pressing, because the former has less oil. The amorphous wax recovered from the more viscous oils will not sweat, and therefore solvent processes for deoiling ljiave to be installed. These usually involve a repulping or resolution of the wax in... [Pg.274]

Metallic copper nanoparticles within covalently bonded multilayered dendritic ultrathin films made of pamam, using supercritical CO2 as a processing medium, were described by Puniredd and Srinivasan . The nanoparticles were obtained in higher yield, in a denser and more stable distribution, and showed greater stability towards polar solvent attack than the analogous products of liquid solvent processes, for example, in tetrahydrofuran, which was explained by the facile solvent separation and transport. [Pg.957]

In November, 1946, M. W. Kellogg Company, engineers and contractors of petroleum and chemical plants, announced to industry a solvent process for treating glyceride oils. Given the name Solexol, it was a development of a process used extensively throughout the world to fractionate lubricating oils from crude petroleum residues. The solvent used in the process is ordinary propane, familiar as liquefied petroleum gas or bottled gas. ... [Pg.151]

A number of other process applications of this class of extractants are worth mentioning at this point. 0,0 - dibutoxydiethylether ("Butex") has been used as one of the extractants, along with TBP in a two-solvent process for purification of Pu and recovery... [Pg.63]

Polycarbonate can be purified during the recycling operation by dissolving it in an organic solvent. Thus insoluble contamination (e.g., glass fibers, paints, or metals) can be separated by filtration via special filter beds. Also, unwanted colorants can be absorbed in this step. A solvent process for recycling PC scrap is currently used. ... [Pg.181]

A listing of the major physical solvent gas purification processes that have been or are currently offered for commercial use and the solvents used by each is provided in Table 14-1. Many more solvents have been proposed and evaluated in the past, and the search for superior solvents is continuing. A screening study to optimize physical solvent processes for the purification of gases at high pressure has been pre.sented by Zawacki el al. (1981). In this work a large number of physical solvents were screened and, after selection of two. solvents (the dimethyl ether of tetraethylene glycol and N-formyl morpholine), process schemes were proposed for a variety of applications. [Pg.1188]

Following the shift conversion of CO with steam to CO2 and H2, the bulk of the CO2 must be removed from the hydrogen and nitrogen. Carbon dioxide can be removed by scrubbing the gas under pressure with various solvents. Processes for CO2 removal include ... [Pg.1081]
