Since 1987 and the publication of the Brundtland Report by the World Conunission on Environment and Development, a new phrase has become the slogan of our contemporary societies sustainable development (Brundtland 1987). The ideas covered by this new concept were not entirely original, but the expression and the definition proposed in the UN report dissraninated widely.
