Principally, the main differentiation for uniform monolayers made by silanization is whether they are formed from long-chain or short-chain organosUanes. For long-chain silanes, a number of alkyltrichlorosilanes is described in the literature (for example l-thioacetato-16-(trichlorosilyl)-hexadekane [19]), and for silanization with short-chain compounds several different alkyltrialkoxysilanes are used (for example 3-aminopropyltriethoxy-silane, APTES). [Pg.44]

Recently, a modified drop casting method for FET fabrication was reported. In this method, the Si/Si02 wafer was modified with a monolayer of aminosilane, a chemical known for its affinity to the CNTs, by treating with aminopropyltriethoxy silane (APTES) followed by assembly of SWNTs from a dilute solution of SWNTs. This method resulted in uniformly distributed high-density SWNT network when compared to surface without APTES (Eig. 14.2d).
