Signal conditioners

The electrical output of the thermocouple varies with temperature. This output is fed through a flexible cable to an external signal-conditioner circuit to amplify and condition the signal for interfacing to the monitoring system. [Pg.664]

A crystal material is excited by the force imposed on it by an internal I v mounted mass. A voltage is produced by the crystal proportional to accel eration. This voltage is then amplified by a charge amplifier type signal conditioner from whence the signal can be transmitted long distance. (1.000 feet is not uncommon) to the monitor/readout unit. FTMA is a forced vibration test method based on direct measurement of stress and strain spectra. As with all forced vibration methods, FTMA is subject to spurious wave effects at high frequencies. The lower frequency limit is determined by transducers, signal conditioners, etc. The lower limit in this research was 35 Hz as determined by the inherent properties of the piezoelectric transducers. The synchronous demodulator (4) eliminates the quadrature signal. This demodulator multiplies the input signal with a reference signal, which is generated by the sensor drive velocity. Failures to this equipment can occur in the gamma thermometers or the signal conditioners, resulting in erroneous flux level readings.
