Shared Concerns

Safety, Loss Prevention and Security are the direct responsibility of line management and are important measures of managerial performance. In order to insure that every employee is prepared to work safely, every supervisor has the responsibility to provide a safe work environment with proper equipment and adequate training. Each supervisor also has the responsibility, through personal example and the involvement of all employees, to create a climate in which everyone shares concern for the safety and security of their fellow workers and for the prevention of losses. 

Rene Dnbos and Barbara Ward write Only One Earth. The book sounds an urgent alarm about the impact of human activity on the biosphere but also expresses optimism that a shared concern for the future of the planet could lead humankind to create a common future. 

Privacy is an important aspect in all societies. Take the time to completely look over this list. If you are under the impression that supervisory staff and hourly staff have viewpoints that differ substantially from one another, I think the findings will be surprising. From what OSHA has published, it appears that in a lot of respects the concerns about obstacles to an effective safety program from both the workers and supervisors perspectives are, for the most part, shared concerns.
