Interpretation of Terms - Name of all known parties and their positions. Some terms may be outlined, i.e. month means calendar month and shall means action by the contractor. 

The term off-kilogram (off-pound) shall mean the mass of aluminum or aluminum alloy removed from a forming or ancillary operation at the end of a process cycle for transfer to a different machine or process.

The transition from (1) and (2) to (5) is reversible each implies the other if the variations 5l> admitted are completely arbitrary. More important from the point of view of approximation methods, Eq. (1) and (2) remain valid when the variations 6 in a trial function are constrained in some systematic way whereas the solution of (5) subject to model or numerical approximations is technically much more difficult to handle. By model approximation we shall mean an approximation to the form of as opposed to numerical approximations which are made at a lower level once a model approximation has been made. Surface electron states (surface levels) at the interface may also play an important role in the potential distribution between the phases. It should be noted that in considering a solid-liquid interface it would be more correct to speak about interface rather than surface electron states. When using, below, the conventional term surface states, we shall mean by it just interface states. 

The construction of a model starts out with the proper choice of a system. Thus, we have to define what the term system shall mean in the context of environmental models. FTE shall mean the equivalent of the scientific work on or directly related to the Product of one scientific person full time for one year (consisting of a total of forty-seven (47) weeks or one thousand eight hundred eighty (1,880) hours per year) (excluding vacations and holidays). 

GAAP shall mean generally accepted accounting principles in the United States, consistently applied. 

REIMBURSABLE DEVELOPMENT EXPENSES shall mean all internal and external direct, actual and documented costs incurred by Origin8or after the Effective Date to develop the Oral Formulation of the Product, including, without limitation, pre-dinical and clinical trial expenses (including, without limitation, the direct cost of clinical trial materials), reasonable Third Party costs, Regulatory Approval expenses and fees, and costs associated with scientific personnel dedicated to development of the Oral Formulation of the Product, where scientific personnel costs shall be calculated at a rate of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ( 200,000) per FTE. The purchase of raw materials or supplies or external Third Party services shall be calculated using actual direct costs incurred by the Parties for such Third Party goods or services. 

RESERVE INVENTORY shall mean Product Inventory which is not being purchased by Origin8or as of the Effective Date and which is specifically identified as Reserve Inventory in EXHIBIT D attached hereto. 

ROW shall mean all the countries and territories of the world, except those in North America and Europe. 

ROYALTY TERM shall mean, with respect to each country in which Product is sold the period of time equal to the longer of (i) ten (10) years from the date of first sale of the Product in such country, (ii) the expiration of the last-to-expire Licensed Patent listed in EXHIBIT A in such country that claims such Product, or (iii) the period of time equal to the Data Exclusivity Period in such country. 

TRANSFERRED ASSETS shall mean the Start-Up Inventory and the Product Data Package. 

A number of practical situations involve heat transfer between a solid surface and a low-density gas. In employing the term low density, we shall mean those circumstances where the mean free path of the gas molecules is no longer small in comparison with a characteristic dimension of the heat-transfer surface. The mean free path is the distance a molecule travels, on the average, between collisions. The larger this distance becomes, the greater the distance required to communicate the temperature of a hot surface to a gas in contact with it. This means that we shall not necessarily be able to assume that a gas in the immediate neighborhood of the surface will have the same temperature as the heated surface, as was done in the boundary-layer analyses of Chap. 5. Because the mean free path is also related to momentum transport between molecules, we shall also be forced to abandon our assumption of zero fluid velocity near a stationary surface for those cases where the mean free path is not negligible in comparison with the surface dimensions. 

In this section we shall consistently refer to resistivity, rather than to its reciprocal, conductivity. The choice is arbitrary, and commercial instruments are sometimes calibrated in units of resistance and sometimes in units of conductance.1 Unless otherwise stated, when we refer to resistivity we shall mean volume resistivity pv (Am), the resistance between opposite faces of a unit cube. A surface resistivity ps is often used to characterise current flow over a surface, as with an antistatic coating, and is defined as the resistance between opposite edges of a unit square. We note first that the resistance across a square is independent of the size of the square and that the unit of surface resistivity is simply the ohm (Q), occasionally written rather superfluously as ohm per square. Secondly, a conducting surface must in reality be a layer with a finite thickness t, and we have only an effective surface resistivity, which is related to the true volume resistivity of the layer by... 

By a complex reaction system we shall mean any reaction system in which we have more than one reaction process occurring. This may include systems in which we have two or more concurrent or consecutive reactions. Unfortunately such a definition in its subtler aspects may include all reaction systems, since, as we shall see in later chapters, even simple reaction systems involve both consecutive and concurrent reactions. We can, however, attempt to distinguish simple and complex systems pragmatically by saying that complex systems will include all those reactions whose rate expressions cannot be characterized experimentally by simple reaction orders over the accessible range of experimental conditions.
