The following software settings and those in Table E43-1, are based on the P/ACE 2000 series version 3.0 Beckman Instr. Inc. [Pg.660]

The series version is best characterized by impedance because the time constant then is uniquely defined (Section 12.2). It has often been used as a skin electrical equivalent, with R for deeper tissue in series and the skin composed of G and C in parallel. [Pg.343]

The impedance series version show similar properties. The equivalent circuits are shown in Figure 9.9. [Pg.346]

The subscripts for the resistances relate to frequency. The simplest equivalent circuit for this equation is with two ideal resistors and one CPE immittance. Examining the equations in Section 12.2, we see that the series version has the advantage that R = Roo and AR = AR directly and that the circuit is characterized with only one time constant. The simplest equivalent circuit for the Colcz Eq. 9.26 is therefore the one shown in Figure 9.11. Here AG = 1/AR, the symbol AG is preferred to Go because it is not the DC value of the system. [Pg.349]

Figure 3.11 represents the series version of the algorithm. This is more representative of the algorithm used by early pneumatic instruments and is retained, usually as an option, in some DCS. [Pg.41]

One method of sampling reservoir fluids and taking formation pressures under reservoir conditions in open hole is by using a wireline formation tester. A number of wireline logging companies provide such a tool under the names such as RFT (repeat formation tester) and FMT (formation multi tester), so called because they can take a series of pressure samples in the same logging run. A newer version of the tool is called a modular dynamic tester or MDT (Schlumberger tool), shown in Figure 3.8. [Pg.132]

Functional fonns based on the above ideas are used in the FIFD [127] and Tang-Toeimies models [129], where the repulsion tenn is obtained by fitting to Flartree-Fock calculations, and in the XC model [92] where the repulsion is modelled by an ab initio Coulomb tenn and a semi-empirical exchange-repulsion tenn Cunent versions of all these models employ an individually damped dispersion series for the attractive... [Pg.207]

The American version of the dynamic filter, known as the Artisan continuous filter (Fig. 30), uses such nonfiltering rotors in the form of turbine-type elements. The cylindrical vessel is divided into a series of disk-type compartments, each housing one rotor, and the stationary surfaces are covered with filter cloth. The feed is pumped in at one end of the vessel, forced to pass through the compartments in series, and discharged as a thick paste at the other end. At low rotor speeds the cake thickness is controlled by the clearance between the scraper and the filter medium on the stationary plate, while at higher speeds part of the cake is swept away and only a thin layer remains and acts as the actual medium. [Pg.411]

A series of tests were performed at the AFC s National Reactor Testing Station in Idaho, starting in 1953. The reactor was situated outdoors, and was operated remotely. The core of the first version had fuel assembhes of aluminum and enriched uranium plates of the Materials Testing Reactor (MTR) type, installed in a water tank. One of the five control rods could be ejected downward and out of the core by spring action upon intermption of a magnet... [Pg.217]

Rheometric Scientific markets several devices designed for characterizing viscoelastic fluids. These instmments measure the response of a Hquid to sinusoidal oscillatory motion to determine dynamic viscosity as well as storage and loss moduH. The Rheometric Scientific line includes a fluids spectrometer (RFS-II), a dynamic spectrometer (RDS-7700 series II), and a mechanical spectrometer (RMS-800). The fluids spectrometer is designed for fairly low viscosity materials. The dynamic spectrometer can be used to test soHds, melts, and Hquids at frequencies from 10 to 500 rad/s and as a function of strain ampHtude and temperature. It is a stripped down version of the extremely versatile mechanical spectrometer, which is both a dynamic viscometer and a dynamic mechanical testing device. The RMS-800 can carry out measurements under rotational shear, oscillatory shear, torsional motion, and tension compression, as well as normal stress measurements. Step strain, creep, and creep recovery modes are also available. It is used on a wide range of materials, including adhesives, pastes, mbber, and plastics. [Pg.202]

The design of the sludge-blanket clarifiers used primarily in the water industry is based on the jar test and a simple measurement of the blanket expansion and settling rate (12). Different versions of the jar test exist, but essentially it consists of a bank of stirred beakers used as a series flocculator to optimize the flocculant addition that produces the maximum floc-setfling rate. Visual floc-size evaluation is usually included. [Pg.318]

HP Series Gone Grushers Nordberg Jnc.) (Fig. 20-24) are available in four sizes. The previous standard- and short-head versions have been combined into one machine, with replaceable liner shapes corresponding to either version, adapted respectively to relatively coarse and fine grinding. In addition, the throw has been increased so as to... [Pg.1843]

A valuable source of up-to-date reviews of many aspects of MSE is a series of books. Annual Reviews of Materials Science, published for the last 30 years. There has been one extensive series of high-level multiauthor treatments right across the entire spectrum of MSE, in the form of 25 books collectively entitled Materials Science and Technology A Comprehensive Treatment (1991-2000), masterminded by Peter Haasen, Edward Kramer and myself. There have also been three encyclopedias, the Encyclopedia of Materials Science and Engineering (1986), the Encyclopedia of Advanced Materials (1994) and the Encyclopedia of Materials (2001), which last has appeared in both printed and on-line versions and will receive annual updates. [Pg.519]
