Self-immolative polymers

Development of other polymer-based ERMs (self-immolative polymers, micelles, solid particles, capsules)... [Pg.169]

Enzyme-responsive polymers can be classified in various ways, for example according to their structure, function or response type or mechanism. Here, we classify enzyme-responsive polymers, according to their structural elements, into polymer hydrogels, supramolecular polymers, polymer particles and self-immolative polymers. The general properties of these classes and their importance in biomaterial apphcations will be introduced. Using examples from the recent literature, we will demonstrate how enzyme responsiveness can be incorporated into these materials. [Pg.171]

Self-immolative polymers are carbamate or carbonate ester based polymers with specific architectures that allow 1 or 1-6 eliminations form metastable... [Pg.176]

The core of the self-immolative polymer structure is an amino-benzylal-cohol that is connected via carbamate bonds. Reaction of the amine group with phenylchloroformate converts it into a phenylcarbamate which can be polymerised in a tin-catalysed reaction under exclusion of water. After... [Pg.177]

Brasch et al. reported the encapsulation of a stimuli-responsive self-immolative polymer within virus-like assemblies of Cowpea Chlorotic Mottle Virus [134]. Upon photo-irradiation, the self-immolative polymer undergoes a head-to-tail depolymerization... [Pg.786]
