6-fold (10-fold) rotor system HPR1000/6 (10), Fa. MLS GmbH Lentldrch/Allgau, Germai  [Pg.87]

Volumes of the suspensions to be handled vary from the extremely large quantities involved in water purification and ore handling in the mining industry to relatively small quantities, as in the fine chemical industry where the variety of solids is considerable. In most industrial applications it is the solids that are required and their physical size and properties are of paramount importance. Thus, the main factors to be considered when selecting equipment and operating conditions are ... [Pg.372]

Supercritical fluid (SCF) food processing plants have become one of the more robust technologies for new applications within the food industry in recent years. The announcement of the construction and start up of a coffee decaffeination plant in Houston, Texas (X) has markedly heightened interest, resulting in increased awareness of the unique factors that apply to the design of the SCF processing plant and, more importantly, the considerations necessary to select equipment and components for installation in a SCF processing plant. [Pg.525]

System, Equipment, and Refrigerant Selection There is no universal rule which can be used to decide which system, equipment type, or refrigerant is the most appropriate for a given application. A number of variables influence the finm-design decision ... [Pg.1117]

Pai+icle size enlargement equipment can be classified into several groups, with advantages, disadvantages, and applications summarized in Table 20-36. Comparisons of bed-agitation intensity, compaction pressures, and product bulk density for selected agglomeration processes are highlighted above in Fig. 20-71. [Pg.1891]

The author is sure that the readers will find ample opportunity to learn from his experience and apply this information to their field of activities. The book aims to provide a bridge between the concept and the application. With this book by his or her side, an engineer should be able to apply better, design better and select better equipment for system needs and ambient conditions. It should prove to be a handy reference to all those in the field of design and application, protection and testing, production, project engineering, project implementation or maintenance, in addition to the sales and purchase of these products. [Pg.983]

The measured pressure differences in ventilation applications are low or very low. The measurement range varies from a few pascals to several thousand pascals. At the lower end are typically building leakage and air movement-related measurements, where only a few pascals can cause a remarkably large air-tlow. The largest pressure differences probably occur in fan performance determination and similar applications. This wide range requires special demands on the measuring equipment and selection of the correct instrument for each application (Fig. 12.15). [Pg.1146]

Industrial Drying Equipment Selection and Application, C. M. van t Land... [Pg.674]

Direct Current (DC). This current is transmitted for industrial uses only in exceptional situations. The most common sources of direct current are storage batteries and industrial devices called rectifiers, in which alternating current is changed (rectified) to direct current, as is used in electrolytic cells for the manufacture of chlorine gas, magnesium, aluminum, and a few other chemicals. The direct current is flowing from the source through the user application and back to the source, in one direction. The motor is primarily used for speed control of selected equipment. [Pg.625]

Some plastics can be worked by many different processes, but others require a specific process (Fig. 10-9). Process selection can take place before material selection, when a range of materials may be available, or made first to meet performance requirements and only then have the applicable process or processes chosen. (Chapter 7, SELECTING PLASTIC and Chapter 8, SELECTING PROCESS) Usually, in the latter situation only one special process can be used to provide the best performance-to-cost advantages. A particular design group may have its own processing capabilities. Unfortunately, some operations use just whatever equipment is available. This situation could either be very unprofitable, limit profitability, or restrict product... [Pg.581]

One of the most important aspects of designing a successful worker exposure or re-entry study is the selection of the agricultural site at which to perform the study. One must first define the growing region in which the pesticide is to be used to the widest extent possible. This is important since this region would have the most farms, farmers, commercial applicators, or re-entry workers which would have work habits, equipment, and land, which would best represent the use of the product. [Pg.992]

The design, construction and application of thickeners, centrifuges and filters is a specialised subject, and firms who have expertise in these fields should be consulted when selecting and specifying equipment for new applications. Several specialist texts on the subject are available Svarovsky (2001), Ward (2000) and Wakeman and Tarleton (1998). The theory of sedimentation processes is covered in Volume 2, Chapter 5 and filtration in Chapter 7. [Pg.408]
