Sealing glass applications

The adhesive was developed for application to seal food containers with alumina foils and to seal glass plates. In this case, the vinyl polymerization step can be carried out by UV light radiation through the already mounted glass plates with a photoactive radical initiator to cure the viscous adhesive material. Another application of this material is the development of diffusion barrier containing protective coatings on medieval stained glasses (31). 

The earliest applications for quantitative analysis of liquid samples and solid preparations entailed sample dissolution in an appropriate solvent. A number of moisture determinations in APIs and pharmaceutical preparations based on both reflectance and transmission measurements have been reported. Their results are comparable to those of the KF method. The high sensitivity provided by the NIR technique has fostered its use in the determination of moisture in freeze-dried pharmaceuticals. ° The noninvasive nature of NIR has been exploited in determination of moisture in sealed glass vials. Aminolevulinic acid HC1 for topical solution, 20%, contains the hydrochloride salt of aminolevulinic acid, an endogenous 5-carbon aminoketone. Cobalt finds applications in permanent magnet production, and in sealing glass to metal. Zinc is used in galvanized and ferrous castings, die-cast parts, brass wire, dry cell battery cases, soldering flux, CRT phosphors, and zinc ferrite inductors. 

Industrial applications of supercritical fluids had humble beginnings. The observation of the supercritical phase was first cited in 1822 by Cagniard de la Tour.f In the said work, the disappearance of the gas-liquid boundary by visual inspection of a sealed glass container at elevated temperatures was noted. Following this, in 1879, Hannay and Hogarth reported the ability of an SCF to dissolve low-pressure solid materials. They observed that pressure increases resulted in increased dissolution of metal chlorides in SC ethanol, whereas pressure decreases caused dissolved materials to precipitate as a snow. This increased solubility was later determined to be higher than the solubility predicted by vapor pressure alone. 

Aseptic manufacture has diverse applications. It is in use with liquid and solid sterile parenteral and ophthalmic dosage forms in simple and complex presentations including glass ampoules, rubber-sealed glass vials, plastic ampoules, prefilled glass syringes, etc. The form of presentation may be single-dose or it may... 

The newly developed sealing glass could be a promising candidate for advanced planar SOFC applications.
