Scratch fastness

Pigment performance also includes fastness to transparent lacquer coatings ( silver lacquer ), that is, fastness to transparent enamels which are applied to metal deco prints to give them rub and scratch fastness. [Pg.57]

P.Y.12 is a typical diarylide yellow pigment in that its prints are fast to clear lacquer overcoating, which is used to protect tin prints against scratching and scrubbing. They are also fast to sterilization (Sec. 1.6.2.3), which is one of the major requirements of an ink to be printed on food cans. [Pg.246]

Avoid fast movements when injecting the zebrafish embryos. If the needle gets plugged due to debris (residual chorion or other particulates), press the clear button on the compressor. If the needle is still not cleared, scratch very carefully over parafilm or your forceps to try to remove visible debris at the tip. The last option is to break the tip which requires recalibration of the needle. [Pg.400]

Parts molded from melamine compounds have a hard scratch resistant surface, practically no odor or taste, good electrical properties, fair arc track resistance, decorative appearance, and color fast characteristics. [Pg.32]

The (physically wetting) polyaniline primer CORRPASSIV was compared with a fast-drying two-component epoxy resin primer (Messrs. Finalin, Type 144) and a metal-reactive two-component primer with adhesion-promoting properties (Type 918). All three primers were coated with a two-component polyurethane paint (B412). CORRPASSIV, both with and without top coat, exhibited no rust formation beneath the primer. The slight undermining receded after the test, and even within the cross and scratch injuries, it was virtually impossible to detect any corrosion. [Pg.592]

A fast stream of Ns Is introduced until all air is displaced. The Ns stream is throttled down to a few bubbles, and the aspirator and the hot plate are turned on. Evaporation to 300 ml. is carried out at 40°C. The temperature should not exceed 45°C. The cooled liquid is poured into a wide-neck Erlenmeyer flask, which is then well stoppered and placed in a Dry Ice-acetone bath. After crystallization, which sometimes must be started by scratching the walls, the flask is allowed to stand for 12 hours at about 5°C. At that point the liquid should constitute 30-40% of the flask contents. Further operations must be carried out in a refrigerated space. The crystals are quickly filtered through filter paper and the filtrate is discarded. The crystals are pressed dry and placed in a crystallizing dish, in which they are allowed to stand until about 20-30% of the contents liquefy. The residue is filtered off and the process is repeated. The almost pure residue (about 10% yield) is stored over Mg(C104)3 in a vacuum desiccator in a refrigerated room. To obtain large crystals, the material can be recrystallized from n-butanol. [Pg.557]

Laser marking is an ink-free process which produces a permanent rub-fast, solvent resistant, scratch proof mark with no waste, and is free of flammable or volatile solvents and then-subsequent disposal. These permanent markings cannot be removed without damaging the product, which is ideal for safety concerns. The laser marking process does not require any form of surface treatment, in fact, a film of water on the product will have no effect on the marking process. Since the mark is etched into the plastic product, there is no problem of adhesion, even on polyethylene and polypropylene. [Pg.324]
