Scanning resumes

It s difficult for companies to scan resumes with design features. You can go overboard designing your resume and turn your potential employer off. Besides, it takes skill and time to produce such a resume. [Pg.161]

You re applying for a job at a small- to medium-size company that doesn t scan resumes into a computer database or use applicant-tracking software. [Pg.46]

Rather than targeting out specific companies, some people allow the companies to seek them by posting online resumes that can then be scarmed by any firm looking to recruit new employees. When employers scan resumes on the Web, they look for specific keywords. [Pg.8]

More detailed information about the pore system can be obtained from scanning curves, illustrated in Fig. XVII-28c. Thus if adsorption is carried only up to point a and then desorption is started, the lower curve ab will be traced if at absorption is resumed, the upper curve ab is followed, and so on. Any complete model should account in detail for such scanning curves and, conversely, through their complete mapping much more information can be obtained about the nature of the pores. Rao [214] and Emmett [215] have summarized a great deal of such behavior. [Pg.668]

Closing and Reopening of Experiments. Software interfaces can also be used to detect when an experiment is about to close and, before closing it, consult an external module that scans the experiment and other related information to make a decision on whether to accept and resume the closing operation or cancel out the closure. [Pg.223]

Poyry, T. A., Kaminski, A., and Jackson, R. J. (2004). What determines whether mammalian ribosomes resume scanning after translation of a short upstream open reading frame Genes Dev. 18, 62—75. [Pg.146]

The whole dilatometer is immersed in an open bath thermostat, and the temperature is kept constant within =t0.05°C. The position of the motor buret syringe is converted into an electrical signal and scanned by a millivoltmeter installed in a neighboring laboratory (Siemens Kom-pensograph, maximum deflection 250 mm. with a signal of 5 mv.). When the pen reaches full deflection, the meter is compensated automatically back to zero, there resuming scanning. Thus, a considerable ordinate expansion can be achieved. [Pg.196]

Make sure the ink is dark and easily readable. If the resume can t easily be scanned into the employer s computer system, or if it scans improperly because the ink is too light or smudged, the computer won t recognize those all-important keywords (even if you re totally qualified for the job), and you will get passed over. [Pg.62]

When creating a resume to be read, you have a bit more freedom in terms of the font(s), type sizes, and ink colors to choose than if you re creating a resume you know is going to be scanned. (See the last section of this chapter for tips on how to create a scannable resume.)... [Pg.85]

A scannable resume is a printed resume that is scanned and evaluated by a computer as opposed to being read by someone. You will have to modify the resume s content and appearance for the scanner. [Pg.90]

When a resume is scanned into applicant-tracking software, it s put through a scanner, which takes the entire document and converts it into digital form. The software then picks apart the resume, word for word, looking for specific keywords and phrases. For this process to work, the scanner must be able to read your resume clearly. Thus, it s important to format your resume and print it in a way that helps eliminate the possibility of computer error. [Pg.90]

Don t staple your resume to a cover letter or fold it. If mailing your resume to a potential employer, use a large envelope. One of the reasons why this is important is because wrinkles in your resume (or staples) make it difficult for a company to scan your resume into applicant-tracking software. If your resume doesn t scan properly, your chances of being considered for a position diminish dramatically. [Pg.177]

Your resume and cover letter allow you to make either a positive or negative first impression. If you want to be invited for an interview, it s imperative that you make a positive first impression. To achieve this, your resume and cover letter need to capture the attention of the reader in less than ten to fifteen seconds. Simply by scanning your resume, someone should be able to determine who you are, your primary qualifications, what job you are looking to fill, and whether or not you have the core skills and experience necessary to fulfill the job s requirements. [Pg.244]

C.. .. terephthalonitrile radical anion (Eq. 21.7), a species that is oxidized reversibly (Eq. 21.8) at this potential when the potential scan is resumed in the positive-going direction. Note that the reduction of terephthalonitrile to its radical anion is not seen until the second negative-going potential sweep is made. [Pg.628]

The keywords you incorporate into your resume should support or be relevant to your job objective. Keep in mind that employers generally scan online resumes for nouns rather than verbs.
