Sample adding

Example of a four-unit riffle. A sample added through the top is divided into four piles, two on each of the riffle s sides. [Pg.198]

Prepare a single multicomponent working standard from the stock standards by making appropriate dilutions with methanol. Concentrations in the working standards should be at such a level that a 20- xL sample added to 100 mL of water gives a calibration standard whose response for each trihalomethane is within 25% of that for the samples to be analyzed. [Pg.576]

Duration of Sample. When measuring a substance having an 8 h averaging time, a single 8 h sample or several consecutive samples adding up to 8 h is best (see Eig. 1). Short period grab samples are the least satisfactory. Eor a STEL, the method should be able to collect enough material to provide adequate sensitivity. [Pg.107]

To demonstrate the effect in more detail a series of experiments was carried out similar to that of volume overload, but in this case, the sample mass was increased in small increments. The retention distance of the front and the back of each peak was measured at the nominal points of inflection (0.6065 of the peak height) and the curves relating the retention data produced to the mass of sample added are shown in Figure 7. In Figure 7 the change in retention time with sample load is more obvious the maximum effect was to reduce the retention time of anthracene and the minimum effect was to the overloaded solute itself, benzene. Despite the reduction in retention time, the band width of anthracene is still little effected by the overloaded benzene. There is, however, a significant increase in the width of the naphthalene peak which... [Pg.428]

The temperature at the observed transition is the initial temperature of the sample added to the shock-compression heating, which is only 3 °C. Uncertainties in the change in Curie temperature are principally due to the measurement of Curie temperature at atmospheric pressure, which was found to... [Pg.120]

The experimental procedure for conducting phase solubility analysis is rather simple it consists of mixing increasing amounts of sample with a fixed volume of solvent and then determining the mass of sample that has dissolved after each addition. It is not necessary to exceed the solubility limit of the analyte species, but attainment of this condition makes it easier to recognize trend within the plots. An experimental protocol for phase solubility analyses is available [39]. The data are most commonly plotted with the system composition (total mass of sample added per gram solvent) on the x axis, and the solution composition (mass of solute actually dissolved per gram of solvent) on the y axis. [Pg.334]

For sample volumes less than 2.5 ml, add equilibration buffer so that the combined volume of sample added in Step 5 and buffer added in Step 6 equals 2.5 ml. Allow the equilibration buffer to enter the gel bed completely. [Pg.10]

The methods are mathematically analogous to KAM and KSM. If the volume of the standard solution is Vo, the volume of the sample added is 1 (1 > V ), the standard concentration is c, that of the sample Cx and the reaction ratio between the standard sensed and the sample added is ju, then... [Pg.108]

Homogenization of sample (adding water if needed) and adsorption on activated Florisil to produce a free-flowing powder. Elution with ethyl acetate or methylene chloride. [Pg.171]

If a liquid form of the enzyme is added, such as lipases in broth samples from microbial cultures, calculate specific activity on a normalized basis by substituting a ml enzyme sample added (instead of mg protein) using the equation above. [Pg.373]

Repeat steps 1 to 6 with three new homogenized food samples, adding 1.5, 3.0, and 4.5 ml of 0.2 mM TMP, respectively, before step 2. In step 3, reduce the volume of ice-cold distilled water added to each pouch accordingly. [Pg.549]

Carefully apply the sample (see Notes 4 and 5) to the column. The sample may be applied using gravity flow or with a peristaltic pump, but use care not to disrupt the gel in the column. Theoretically, there is no limit to the volume of sample added, but the sample amount should not exceed the binding capacity of the column. [Pg.144]

In the main experiment, 16 dishes were evaluated using a panel consisted of 300 ordinary people with the panel size for each session being 25 to 50. Each panelist was given a test sample added MSG and a control. The panelists were asked to compare the test sample against the control, and to evaluate the flavor of the test sample checking off the point on each scale of the evaluation sheet. [Pg.43]

Haemolytic activity was observed in samples during Phaeocystis pouchetii blooms in mesocosms. The activity measured using incubations of whole mesocosm samples mixed with blood suspensions was proportional with the amount of sample added. The haemolytic activity in the mesocosms correlated best with the density of non-motile P. pouchetii but also with the abundance of the larger phototrophs and heterotrophs. The last two were also positively related to P. pouchetii numbers. Biomass during the P. pouchetii bloom was dominated by non-motile P. pouchetii cells and... [Pg.196]
