Room air conditioner

Room air conditioner A package air-conditioning unit for the air treatment of the space in which it is located. 

Room air conditioner (self-contained) A rcxjm air conditioner complete with a direct expansion (dx) system condenser and evaporator fans, filtration, and thermostatic control. 

Rotary Compressor. Inherently a rotary compressor is more efficient than the current reciprocating compressor, (room air-conditioners have been using rotary compressors for decades.) Several manufacturers in the U.S. and Japan have produced refrigerators with rotary compressors, but experienced long-term quality problems. 

Winter heating items fitted within room air-conditioners may be electric resistance elements, hot water or steam coils, or reverse cycle (heat pump). One model of water-cooled unit operates with a condenser water temperature high enough to be used also in the heating coil. 

The catalogue-rated cooling capacity of a room air-conditioner, if not qualified, will be based on ASHRAE Standard 16-1983. This specifies test conditions of air onto the evaporator at 80°F dry bulb, 50% relative humidity (26.7°C, 49.1% saturation), and air onto the condenser at 95°F dry bulb, 75°F wet bulb (35°C and 23.9°C). The original basis for this specification was the ambient condition prevailing in the mass-market area of the USA. 

Performance of the average commercial room air-conditioner at BS.2852, condition C, will he some 10-15% lower than at condition A, since it will evaporate some 5 K lower. This reduction factor should he applied to any unqualified unit rating if used under UK amhient conditions. 

A further complication arises with the application to temperate conditions of room air-conditioners which have heen designed primarily for tropical markets. These units typically work with a sensible/total heat ratio of 0.7. Plotting this process line on the psychrometric chart (see Figure 35.3) shows that the ADP will he about 9°C.

Reduce Lowering consumption of local resources by reducing needless use of lights, power, water, e.g. turning off room air-conditioners, if possible, when leaving a hotel for the day... 

Defective maintenance of circulating air units or room air conditioners, no drain in drip pans of circulating air units. 

With many new products on the horizon, the plastics industry must take time to spell out the limitations as well as the advantages of these new materials. A good example of this is the recent move by Underwriters Laboratories to limit the use of all plastics in room air conditioners. 

Air Conditioner - A device for conditioning air in an interior space. A Room Air Conditioner is a unit designed for installation in the wall or window of a room to deliver conditioned air without ducts. A Unitary Air Conditioner is composed of one or more assemblies that usually include an evaporator or cooling coil, a compressor and condenser combination, and possibly a heating apparatus. A Central Air Conditioner is designed to provide conditioned air from a central unit to a whole house with fans and ducts. 

Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) - The measure of the instantaneous energy efficiency of room air conditioners the cooling capacity in Btu/hr divided by the watts of power consumed at a specific outdoor temperature (usually 95 degrees Fahrenheit). 

Refrigerator compressor bases, room air conditioner parts, interior dishwasher parts, business machine bases and housings...
