Rocket and jet fuel

Light oils—gasolines, rocket and jet fuels, solvents, tractor fuel, and kerosene. [Pg.31]

Kerosene C12 H26 to C16 H34 170 to 275 Rocket and jet engine fuel, domestic heating... [Pg.607]

Kerosene (Kerosine, Coal Oil, Astral Oil). A mixt of petroleum hydrocarbons, chiefly of the methane series having from 1Q to 16 carbon atoms per molecule. It constitutes the fifth fraction in the distn of petroleum, after the petroleum ethers and before the oils. Pale yel or w-white, mobile liq characteristic, not altogether disagreeable odor bp 175-325°, flash pt 150-185°F, d about 0.80g/cc. Insol in w, misc with other petroleum solvents. Besides uses as a fuel, illuminant and cleansing agent, it is used as a rocket and jet engine fuel (Refs 1, 3 4)... [Pg.541]

Hydrogen is also important in fuel production. Hydrocracking uses the partial pressure of hydrogen gas to break down complex organic molecules, and forms by-products such as ethane, aromatics, and jet fuels. Liquid hydrogen is also used as a rocket fuel. In fission-based nuclear reactors, heavy water (where deuterium replaces regular hydrogen) is used as a neutron moderator. [Pg.60]

Because it ignites sponty in air, TEA is hyper-golic with liq O and, hence, has been suggested for use as a rocket and turbo-jet engine (proplnt) fuel by Wells (Ref 2)... [Pg.549]

Kerosene consists of a mixture of hydrocarbons. It has many uses including jet fuel and rocket fuel. It is also used as a fuel for hurricane lamps. If we represent kerosene as Ci6H34, write a balanced chemical equation for the complete combustion of kerosene. [Pg.124]

The details of such complex mechanisms require a simple model capable of parameter fitting, so the Arrhenius model is still used for studies of combustion of jet fuel and various rocket engine fuels. A later chapter will explore more detailed treatments but here we can use the equation in natural... [Pg.146]
