Road marking paints

TPA s for temporary road marking applications, Paraloid B66 for example, when traffic is being diverted due to road works, require high carboxyl content for easy removal by alkaline cleaners. [Pg.217]

Architectural coatings include interior and exterior house paints, primers, sealers, varnishes, and stains. Industrial coatings include automotive paints, can coatings, furniture finishing, and road-marking paints. [Pg.202]

The total mercury consumption varied from 270 to 543 kg of mercury annually with a mean value of 393 kg. Moreover, mercury battery consumption of the island underwent a considerable increase from the year 2001 and was at its peak in 2003 with a total contribution of 248 kg of mercury. The general decline in the trend can be associated partly with the govermnent decisions to prohibit use of button cell batteries and mercury usage in paints (except road marking paints) and... [Pg.431]

The DCPD concentration and reaction temperatures have strong influence on the properties of the final resins such as the softening point, color, unsaturation, and reactivity. The resin may be hydro-treated to improve the color and thermal stability. The resins are sold in the solid form as flakes or pellets. The main applications of the resins are in adhesives, tackifiers in tires and floor tiles, surface coating and varnishes, and ink. Water-white resins produced by the hydrogenation process are used in road-marking paint, hot melt adhesives with thermoplastic rubber which can be foimd in diapers and feminine hygiene products. [Pg.2075]

Most of the natural silica used in coating industry has a SiO content higher than 95 %, and up to 99 % in some cases. Some of the important features of these relatively cheap extenders include high hardness, chemical inertness, durability and a low oil absorption value (the exception is diatomaceous silica). Crystalline and amorphous silica are used in compositions such as wood fillers for their abrasiveness in road marking paints and floor coatings to improve abrasion resistance in exterior flat house paints for sheen uniformity, burnishing resistance and durability and in primers and undercoats to improve intercoat adhesion. [Pg.193]

Carboxyl containing solution polymers suitable for this application are available from the major TPA suppliers. The same type of resin has also been used to make temporary road marking paints. [Pg.218]
