Risk management mitigation strategies

To identify the key toxicants impacting marine and freshwater ecosystems on a site and basin scale as a crucial basis for scientifically sound risk assessment and decision support on risk management, remedial action strategies and preventive policies for the mitigation of harmful effects. 

It is rarely possible to completely mitigate a risk other than by somehow taking action to avoid the associated hazard in the first place. Instead, risks need to be reduced so that they become As Low As Reasonably Practical (ALARP). Remedial project actions should be specifically documented — this is sometimes referred to as the Safety Case. We devote an entire chapter to managing risks in the supply chain, emphasizing risk quantification models and risk mitigation strategies, and presenting important problems that extend beyond the traditional treatment of supply chain management. 

This step evaluates the available options for managing risks identified in Step 3 and recommends a course of action.
