Residential planning

Working drawings are used to describe and communicate the construction requirements. A complete set of working drawings for a house will typically include a site plan, floor plan, elevations, sections and details, schedules, and mechanical, plumbing, and electrical plans. Specialized symbols are used to represent items such as cabinets, sinks, and electrical switches and lights. Residential plans are commonly drawn to a scale of V4 inch = 1 foot. [Pg.389]

Most professionals in the urban planning field have an area of specialty. Some of the most common areas are residential planning, transportation engineering and design, business and economic planning, historic preservation, environmental planning, and zoning and code enforcement. [Pg.1887]

Per capita flow varies from <378 L/d (2) for a residential community to >1134 L/d for highly industrialized areas. The concept of population equivalent is used for evaluating industrial waste contributions to sewage. It is appHed when planning for hydrauhc and BOD loadings. [Pg.282]

Because of the foregoing requirements, a sophisticated organization is needed to do an effective job of new installation control. Prototype testing is best handled at the national level installation testing and plan examinations at the state, provincial, or regional level. Location of owners is a local operation with respect to residential and commercial structures but may be a state or provincial operahon for industrial sources. [Pg.422]

Suitable sites are normally limited to those areas designed in development plans as being for industrial or commercial uses. Such land should be capable of being accessed directly from the primary or secondary distributor roads in the area. Segregation of tmcks and tmck access from residential areas should be achieved where possible. [Pg.19]

United States Plug Power is developing a 7 kWe fuel cell system for residential applications. They have tested their system on hydrogen and are planning market introduction of several models which could use hydrogen, propane, or natural gas. [Pg.339]

Residential treatment appeared the most likely way of making an impact on Carl s crack cocaine use, and plans were made for an admission. This could not happen immediately, and in the meantime Carl was prescribed fluoxetine 20mg per day, and diazepam 20-30mg per day. He was keen to try to withdraw himself from crack without going into hospital, and he and his mother were instructed about his use of the two medications. They were advised that diazepam would reduce anxiety and agitation, and might help relieve craving for crack. [Pg.54]

According to current plans, the portion of PCD not being considered for commercial development will be converted into a wildlife refuge. The exact end-use requirements of the site have not been determined some areas are classified for residential use, others for industrial use, and still others for a wildlife refuge. [Pg.39]

Concerning use of residential or commercial buildings around a plant site for protection of neighboring populations, the capacity and the likely number of people in each residence or building should be known. Again, should the release last longer than anticipated, plans and vehicles must be in place to evacuate these people quickly. [Pg.142]

Systematic project planning This element ensures that the level of detail required for project planning matches the use of the data being collected, which in turn is determined by the intended end use of the site. Such an approach differs from typical site assessment planning, which often approaches all sites as if they are similar, with standardized sampling strategies (e.g., two soil samples per square meter ), analytical requirements ( test all samples for 36 common contaminants ), and assumed end uses ( all soils will be remediated to residential standards ). [Pg.338]

Disaster planning must include a community mutual aid plan in the event that the hospital (s), nursing home(s), or other residential health care facility needs to be evacuated. Plans for evacuation of health care facilities must be realistic and achievable, and contain sufficient specific detail as to where patients will be relocated to and who will be there to care for them. Patient evacuation was a major challenge to disaster response efforts following Hurricane Katrina, and was hampered by the destruction of all major transportation routes in and out of the city. Pre-planning for the possibility of the need to evacuate entire health care facilities must address alternative modes of transportation and include adequate security measures (see Figure 1.4). [Pg.10]

Scenario Imagine that you re building the tallest skyscraper in the world and you need to know how many elevators to include. The plans call for a building 850 meters high, with 170 floors housing a mix of residential and commercial areas. To meet these demands, your team estimates that 100 elevators will be required. Hopefully this number can be reduced by simulating traffic patterns using DES. [Pg.249]
