Other influences determining research directions in drugs and devices were paternalism (protectionism) and the money available for grant projects, guided by the numerical male dominance in the reviewing process of research priorities. 

APhA has several affiliate organizations, and through the work of its Foundation and credentialing organizations, the Association has made a major commitment to research, quality measurement, and accountability. The APhA Foundation has sponsored and directed several significant research and demonstration projects to contribute to the body of evidence that pharmacists services enhance patient health-seeking behavior and improve outcomes. Research on quality measurement and the development of tools to reduce medication use problems and errors is a priority of the Foundation. 

It is imperative that the federal government diminish its role in R D activity not directly related to national defense. The concepts of free enterprise apply to science and technology as much as to other aspects of the economy. When the government controls such a major portion of the R D effort, it also controls the decisions, the priorities, and the people. In order for the United States to resume its position as the world leader in Science and technology, government must allow private concerns to explore whatever areas of science they feel are appropriate and worthwhile. Each individual sponsor of research should be able to determine priorities in accord with future needs and consumer demand. 

In order to further develop this polymerization system, the repeated use of porous matrices in the field of polymerizations represents a key factor, and this will undoubtedly become valuable for future applications in industry. In addition, research should be directed as a priority towards identifying the specific properties of polymer assemblies accommodated in these nanochannels. Likewise, the construction of host-guest nanocomposites should enhance the current knowledge with regards to the apphcation of these materials to nanosized, molecular-based devices [33, 34].
