Release sheet

Fiber-reiaforced panels covered with PVF have been used for greenhouses. Transparent PVF film is used as the cover for flat-plate solar collectors (114) and photovoltaic cells (qv) (115). White PVF pigmented film is used as the bottom surface of photovoltaic cells. Nonadhering film is used as a release sheet ia plastics processiag, particularly ia high temperature pressing of epoxy resias for circuit boards (116—118) and aerospace parts. Dispersions of PVF are coated on the exterior of steel hydrauHc brake tubes and fuel lines for corrosion protection. [Pg.382]

Collation. Collation is the process by which the individual laminate pHes are assembled prior to curing in the press. The buildup of the laminate determines the final properties of the product. The topmost sheet in the buildup may be a texturing or embossing paper as well as being a release sheet to allow for separation of the laminate from the caul plate used to mold it. [Pg.533]

All VGCF was graphitized prior to composite consolidation. Composites were molded in steel molds lined with fiberglass reinforced, non-porous Teflon release sheets. The finished composite panels were trimmed of resin flash and weighed to determine the fiber fraction. Thermal conductivity and thermal expansion measurements of the various polymer matrix composites are given in Table 6. Table 7 gives results from mechanical property measurements. [Pg.151]

The texturing sheet may also contain a plastic coating that transfers to the laminate surface during the laminating process to provide special surface properties. The caul plate itself may be smooth or textured and act directly as the release. Immediately beneath this release sheet, there may be a decorative layer or a ply that imparts special properties such as a metallic foil for electrical conductivity or a static dissipating layer. If the decorative layer is a printed... [Pg.533]

Other applications include rotomolded tanks and containers for the storage of corrosive chemicals, such as nitric or hydrochloric acid. Extruded sheets can be thermoformed into various parts, such as battery cases for heart pacemakers.58 ECTFE film is used as release sheet in the fabrication of high-temperature composites for aerospace applications. Braided cable jackets made from monofilament strands are used in military and commercial aircraft as a protective sleeve for cables.59... [Pg.85]

Separator or Release Sheets. Separator or release sheets are used to free the reverse side of a laminate either from pressure padding material or the adjacent laminate normally they are paper of the glassine type, coated with release agents. [Pg.119]

Impregnation. Apart from the release sheets all the raw material papers described above are required to be impregnated with a liquid resin—either melamine-formaldehyde for the surfaces or phenol-formaldehyde for the core. This stage of the process, essentially, involves filling the paper with the appropriate amount of the liquid resin, driving off solvents, and advancing the cure until a handleable sheet of semi-cured impregnated paper is obtained. [Pg.119]

In contrast, Ashida s patent (4) uses a vertical process, as shown in Figure 53. Vertically supplied glass mat is continuously fed int a two-sided release sheet. The mixed foam formulation is then applied onto the V-shaped release sheets. The mixture is immediately pressed by a squeezer which facilitates the impregnation of the foaming mixture into the strand mat, while at the same time, the squeezer controls the thickness of the resulting foamed composites. [Pg.168]

Uses Water repellent, release agent used on paper/paperboard for water-repellent pkg. materials, food pkg., grease-resistant and release paper when used with PVA, release and grease-crawl-resist, paper for industrial release sheets for prep, of plastic laminates, food separators and pan liners, separator sheets for pressure-sensitive tapes and labels, water-repellent coatings and adhesives Regulatoiy FDA approved for food pkg. [Pg.674]

Casting is the second most popular method of producing EVA film. Dual chill roll systems are used to roll the EVA copolymer into sheets of thin film. Additives are sometimes needed to alleviate problems with blocking and poor chill roll release. Sheet extrusion is very similar to cast film extrusion except the EVA copolymer product is much thicker. Sheet extrusion usually uses three or four chill rolls stacked one on top of the other instead of the two generally used for casting. [Pg.304]

ConsunuAle Press Materials. The purposes of consumable press materials placed between the tooling plate and the top layer are to ensure that pressure is applied uniformly and to provide thermal lagging to correct heat rise. The purposes of consumable release sheets placed in contact with the foils are to protect the outerlayer foils, keeping them resin-free, and to allow easy separation of the foil from the separator sheet. [Pg.667]

An adhesive film is laminated on a rigid board with a release sheet first. The boards are then routed by punching or by NC router. It is a very simple process if the adhesive material is pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs). Each piece of stiffener is placed on the flex circuits with appropriate pressure, mostly by hand. The process is more compUcated when a thermo-set type adhesive material is required. A temperature higher than 160°C with a pressure higher than 20 kg/cm is required for more than 30 min. A similar heat press used for multilayer circuit boards or film coverlay is necessary. Dummy boards should be prepared to make the pressure uniform. [Pg.1535]
