Refrigerated water

Evaporator is the heat exchanger where refrigerant (water) evaporates (being sprayed over the tubes) due to low pressure in the vessel. Evaporation chills water flow inside the tubes that bring heat from the external system to be cooled. 

In steam jet refrigeration, water is the refrigerant being evaporated at low pressures created by the steam jets. These units have a barometric direct contact condenser. Figure 1T1, or a surface condenser as in Figure 11-2. The former system wastes or loses the steam in the water whereas the latter allows the steam to be condensed and reused. 

The calendering machine of three, four or more hollow rolls has arrangements for heating by steam or hot water or cooling by refrigerated water. The widths of the calender rolls may be only six inches for a laboratory size calendering machine or up to hundred inches when heavy work and a large volume production are required.

Constant-temperature baths or furnaces are needed to maintain the uniform temperature environment for comparison calibration. Stirred-liquid baths and temperature controllers have good characteristics as constant-temperature media due to their ability to maintain temperature uniformity [100]. The liquids used include refrigerants, water, oils, molten tin, and molten salt. Water can be used for temperatures between 0 and 100°C and oils above 300°C. Refrigeration units are available for commercial constant-temperature baths with alcohol as the working fluid and temperatures as low as -80°C. SPRAY COOLING - Method of refrigerating by spraying expendable refrigerant or by spraying refrigerated water. 

STEAM-ABSORPTION MACHINE - A refrigeration or air-conditioning machine which uses, as a refrigerant, water evaporated by absorption in a brine regenerated by steam and condensed by cooling-tower water. 

The most important reason for corrosion in appliances is the water that is being handled by the equipment. This type of corrosion affects the internal components of appliances and limits life expectancy. In the case of home appliances, the appliances most susceptible to internal corrosion are refrigerators, water heaters, washers, dishwashers, and water softeners. The air conditioners, humidifiers, high-efficiency furnaces, dehumidifiers, and boilers are susceptible to internal corrosion.
