Recommendations for Further Study

An exhaustive review by H. Ringsdorf (M. Ahlers, 1990) on biomembrane models and a recent book by F. Voegtle (1991) on supramolccular chemistry are recommended for further studies in this area.

Craig (1979) has summarized the functional and nutritional properties of most of these whey-based food ingredients. A comprehensive symposium (Clark 1979A) and several excellent reviews on whey and whey utilization are recommended for further studies (Clark 1979B). 

Section 3.2.1 covers a similar area of synthesis planning as S. Warren s (1978) book Designing Organic Synthesis . This book contains many examples of antitheses of achiral carbo-and heterocyclic compounds that are largely ignored in this chapter (but see sections 2.5,4.6, and 4.7 for heterocycles). Warren s much more elaborate introduction into the "synthon approach to rerro-synthetic analysis is based on E.J. Corey s work (1967A, 1971) and is highly recommended for further study. 

The potential of Jerusalem artichoke as a feedstock for ethanol production has been assessed in many countries in recent years. In New Zealand, for instance, Jerusalem artichoke gave the highest potential ethanol yield (calculated from known crop yields and fermentable content) of a range of crops assessed. From three harvests of the tops a year, estimated ethanol production was 78 It-1 and 11,230 1-ha-1. Although fodder beet (Beta vulgaris L.) remains a favored feedstock for ethanol production in New Zealand, Jerusalem artichoke has been recommended for further study (Judd, 2003). 

In 1934, Arny et al. reported on the third and fourth years of this on-going study, basically, a condensation of the Ph.D. thesis of Blythe (28). This paper summarized the findings of Steinberg and Blythe and identified other areas, which they recommended for further study. 

The antibacterial action of several new nitrofurans in vitro against a number of organisms has been reported by Skagius . These data indicate that 5-(5-nitro-2-furyl)-2-amino-l,3,4-thiadiazole (NF-475, ASA-140, Ph/ 778, LXXI) and its formyl derivative LXXII) have been recommended for further study in the treatment of intestinal infections of various aetiology. 

Our discussion of the Laplace transform method for solving differential equations suffices only to introduce the method. The book by Kreyszig in the list at the end of the book is recommended for further study. 

The regulation requires that new facilities conduct a PHA. Therefore, the PSSR should check that the PHA was in fact carried out and that its recommendations were either resolved or implemented. During the pressure of construction, there is sometimes a tendency to postpone some of the PHA recommendations for further study as a convenient way of putting them off because there is insufficient time and/or money to implement them. The PSSR team members should carefully check any recommendations that were postponed, and satisfy themselves that such postponements are justified, and do not jeopardize the safety of the plant. 

A partial response was observed in a patient with metastatic soft tissue sarcoma, and 14 patients exhibited disease stability for a minimum of two cycles. The authors stressed that doses of CA-4-P on a five-times-a-day schedule of 52-65 mg/m were reasonably well tolerated. The 52 mg/m dose was recommended for further study based on cumulative phase I experience with CA-4-P. Antitumor efficacy was observed, and the use of DCE-MRI provided a valuable. 

It is not necessary to deal with these techniques in detail here, since there are several books and monographs on the subject. The fundamental theory and practice of electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical methods can be found in [1,2] and also in [3-5], where investigations of polymeric surface layers are emphasized. Excellent monographs on EQCM [6-9] and PBD [10] are also recommended for further studies. Infrared, Mdssbauer spectroscopy, ellipsometry, etc., are described in [I I], while electron spin resonance is discussed in [12], radiotracer in [13], scanning tunneling microscopy in [14], and scanning electrochemical microscopy in [15]. The fundamentals of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy are treated in [1,2,16] however, the different models elaborated for electrochemically active films and membranes can be found in various papers (see later), while the most important methods for analyzing impedance spectra, as reported before 1994, are well summarized in [3]. Nevertheless, the essential elements of these techniques are briefly discussed here, in order to help the reader to understand the experimental material presented in this book.

Edmonds classic text on the theory of angular momentum is recommended for further studies on this subject. Our presentation was very brief in many respects. For instance, we have neither introduced ladder operators to explicitly constmct the eigenfunctions of angular momentum eigenvalue equations nor have we deduced the expression for total angular momentum eigenstates in the coupled product basis. Edmonds book fills all these gaps. 

The concept of a large ambient temperature telescope which fully utilizes the mass and volume capability of Spacelab was recommended for further study in 1974 (1) by the Infrared...
