Several investigators have discussed the assessment of generated structures. 16.17.111,112 First, one should look at how well defined the structures are. This reflects the quality of the NMR data. Second, one should look at how well the generated structures explain the NMR data. This is a reflection of the refinement procedure. [Pg.164]

The most sophisticated approach to quantifying a structure s definition is the probabilistic approach introduced by Altman, Jardetzky, and co-workers.38 39 40 In principle, the probability density for each atom is a correct way to estimate the allowed volume, but calculating this quantity does involve some assumptions about the atom s distribution in space. [Pg.164]
