This center provides publications developed by the EPA s Office of Research and Development. 

The main scientific prospect for the SAU systems is the publication of atlases, the first of which contains forecasted inter-nuclear separations for diatomic molecules (Hefferlin, Davis and Ileto 2003) and the second of which presents vibration frequencies (Davis and Hefferlin, in preparation). The prospect for public acceptance of this very general periodic system could improve if the public develops a taste for multiple dimensions One way in which this might occur is by exposure to written (Abbott 1952 Burger 1983) or filmed expositions (Banchoff and Strauss Productions 1979),...

The experience of hybrid corn has set a precedent and suggests a strategy for private sector control of the seed business. Some crops are dominated by hybrids while others are not. Hanway (35) estimates that 85 percent of the corn varieties used by farmers in 1977 were privately developed, but only 3 percent of the peanut varieties were. About 89 percent of soybean varieties were publicly developed. Only 5 percent of the corn seed market is supplied by farmers for home use or from local sale but more than 60 percent of soybean, wheat, and oats are from these independent sources (33). Other untoward effects of this shift relate to over-dependence on a few varieties that may increase the vulnerability of the nation s com crop to dlsesase through overly focused genetic backgrounds. 

The physical protection of fissile and radioactive materials and of nuclear power plants as a whole is mentioned where appropriate but is not treated in detail obligations of States in this respect should be addressed on the basis of the relevant instruments and publications developed under the auspices of the IAEA. Non-radiological aspects of industrial safety and environmental protection are also not explicitly considered it is recognized that States should fulfil their international undertakings and obligations in relation to these. 

At the task level. Agreement Experts have produced over 1000 HIA-related publications/reports and made around 1000 HIA-related presentations during the 2004-2009 term. The trend towards increased production of information in publications/reports and presentations is expected to continue. As hydrogen progresses toward commercialization during the 2009-2014 term, the lEA HIA newsletter lEA HIA News) will evolve to focus more on hydrogen demonstrations and the hydrogen marketplace. The lEA HIA Secretariat now develops and disseminates information via its web site www.ieahia.org). Annual Report [6], special reports, newsletter, and brochures, in addition to the extensive technical reports and publications developed at the task level. 

As indicated in para. 2.7, design targets should be set at the start of the design process for annual individual doses to members of the public. Developments in the area surrounding the site and likely future population distributions should be taken into account as necessary. 

The recent CBI publication Developing a Safety Culture (1991) takes the above points further. This publication is based on a study undertaken by that organisation and identifies a number of features which are essential to a sound safety culture. A company wishing to improve its performance will need to judge its existing practices against them. The CBI stress that ... 

From the standpoint of safety of the public and workers, research reactors are very difficult to categorize due to their very broad range of application (e.g. training, research and isotope production), their design characteristics and their power. This publication develops a categorization initially based on the radioactive inventory of research reactors. It is intended to apply generally to any type of research reactor or other types of nuclear facilities other than large nuclear reactor facilities.

Chemistry has contributed greatly to improve the quality of human life. For many years, manufacturers took the approach that the world is big and chemical production is relatively small, so chemicals could be absorbed by the environment without effect. The high value of the chemicals produced created an atmosphere in which the manufacturers believed that successful production was the only concern, and control of their waste stream was irrelevant to success. Eventually, the public developed concerns about the impact of chemicals on health and the environment.
