Public relations programme

The OPCW will endeavour to be as open and accessible as possible in providing factual information on its activities and shall conduct an effective Public Affairs Programme with respect to the news media and the general public. An indicative list of areas in which information may be routinely provided by the Organisation for these purposes, is set out in the Annex to this Media Poliey. Such information shall not be related to a specific State Party or site. [Pg.293]

The IPCS INCHEM was produced through cooperation between the International Programme on Chemical Safety (IPCS) and the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), and directly responds to one of the Intergovernmental Forum on Chemical Safety (IFCS) priority actions to consolidate current, internationally peer-reviewed chemical safety-related publications and database records from international bodies, for public access (IPCS INCHEM 2007). [Pg.74]

The exponential growth and topicality of research into dendritic molecules almost thirty years after their first synthesis (1978) is apparent not only from the large number of publications (presently totalling more than 10000, and increasing by more that 1000 per annum, plus about 150 patents), but also from the mere fact that more than 8000 researchers are currently active in this area and more than 150 companies have already applied for patents relating to dendritic compounds (source IDS-5 Programme). [Pg.4]

Raising public awareness of the POPs-related issues and encouraging public participation are also important elements of the Stockholm Convention. On the public awareness campaign, the HKSAR Government has launched, as a priority action item of the HKSARIP, a dedicated EPD thematic website on POPs (available at http //www.epd.gov.hk/ epd/english/international conventions/pops/pops main.html) and integrated the topic into the overall environmental protection education programme. [Pg.364]

Chapter 3 is concerned with the period between the two world wars. It describes the ways in which public opinion in the field of chemical warfare was aroused after the experience of the First World War, and to some extent how public opinion was then exploited. The chapter considers some of the effects of this including how it stimulated the negotiation of the 1925 Geneva Protocol, one of the most important pieces of conventional international law prohibiting the use of chemical and biological weapons. The chapter also considers the national policies and programmes relating to chemical warfare in the inter-war period and examines important chemical warfare discoveries in these decades. [Pg.220]

Potassium channel activators (KCAs), or openers, are a group of compounds that have aroused considerable pharmaceutical interest during the last decade as smooth muscle relaxants. Following the publication in 1986 [1] of this novel mechanism of action for cromakalim (1), virtually every major pharmaceutical company has initiated a programme to study the mechanism of action and structure-activity relationships (SAR) of this group of compounds, particularly benzopyrans related to cromakalim (1) and its active 35, 4/ enantiomer, levcromakalim (2) [2],... [Pg.412]

Therefore, since 2004 the IAEA s programme related to the terrestrial environment has included activities aimed towards the development of a set of procedures for determination of radionuclides in environmental samples. It is intended that as these are developed, they will be made them available to users, for example by publication in IAEA series and/or by placing them on the IAEA website. The latter option would allow those who are interested in a reliable source of procedures to search for them according to their requirements e.g. by analyte and/or sample type. It is not intended that the analytical procedures included should be regarded as recommended or endorsed by the IAEA for any particular purpose, nevertheless it is expected that the information will be a useful resource and starting point for analysts. [Pg.213]
