Database record

Size of the database industry can be measured in terms of the number of database records, databases, database entries in CRDB, database producers, database vendors, or online searches. Growth in number of database entries, databases, producers, and vendors is plotted in Figure 1. The slowest growth is at the vendor level, the fastest growth is in database files. [Pg.453]

Database Records. From 1975 through 1991, database records increased from 52 million to 4.06 biUion, a factor of 77, and the number of databases grew from 301 to 7637, a factor of 24. Database entries grew from 301 to 6261, a factor of 20. The number of producers continues to grow somewhat more slowly in part because individual producers create multiple databases. There were 2372 producers in 1991 and the average producer... [Pg.453]

Medium of Distribution. Another way of looking at databases is in terms of the recording medium used for distribution or access. Table 6 indicates the number and percentage of databases recorded on various types of media. In 1991, there were 8159 instances of database media combinations for the 7636 databases in 6261 database entries. In Table 6, the distribution of instances over the types of media is used to normalize media for the number of entries and databases. [Pg.456]

As set forth above, terms are identified from free text and database records by text mining. The terms are then associated with relevant concepts, which... [Pg.736]

Decide How Objects, Links, and Actions Are Implemented. This is highly dependent on the answers to the preceding question. Each component may have its own internal representation of objects as C structures, as Java or C++ objects, or as files or database records. Links may be memory addresses, URLs, CORBA identifiers, database keys, or customer reference numbers, or they may be refined to further objects. Actions may be further refined and ultimately be function calls, Ada rendezvous, signals, or Internet messages. [Pg.675]

Several organisations have lately established electronic databases, recording details of industrial chemical accidents. These should enable the user to learn lfom others mistakes and also establish a fixed version of accidents, which hitherto have changed in the retelling, and the more important have often been retold. The two above are examples of a wider trend. All tend to reflect the pre-occupations of their compilers, which are generally not so much the precise chemical causes of the mishap, but its effects. [Pg.21]

The assembly of large screening libraries for HTS requires the development of archival and retrieval systems that can handle solid compounds and compound solutions in microtubes or in plates in either the 96 or the 384 format. Barcodes are used to identify each sample vial, tube, or plate. Databases record which samples are available, what type of sample it is, and how much is available. All solid samples are prepared first as stock (master) solutions ( around 5 mg/mL in DMSO) in 2-D bar-coded tubes that are then aliquotted to plates and processed as described earlier. The tubes and plates are usually made of polypropylene for compatibility with DMSO. DMSO is the industry standard solvent for screening libraries because many of the archived compounds are not soluble in water at 5 mg/mL. DMSO, an organic solvent, also has a favorable combination of biological... [Pg.85]

The IPCS INCHEM was produced through cooperation between the International Programme on Chemical Safety (IPCS) and the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), and directly responds to one of the Intergovernmental Forum on Chemical Safety (IFCS) priority actions to consolidate current, internationally peer-reviewed chemical safety-related publications and database records from international bodies, for public access (IPCS INCHEM 2007). [Pg.74]

Later, when someone from a company contacts you about an interview, you will have your notes available at your fingertips. You can also schedule your interview using ACT and add notes about what was discussed on the phone into the contact person s ACT database record. [Pg.154]

To export data files into a database program, a database file format called. DB2 was developed in an early PC database, dBase II. Databases are made up of files, which could be compared to a Rolodex file box full of cards, all containing the same type of information. The Rolodex card would be equivalent to a database record. Each record has on it a series of entries, fields, in the same place on each card. To import data into a database record, all the entries in the report must be matched up with existing fields in the database s format. Most software that uses database formats has export/import subprograms that allow you to align fields between the two formats and allow you to select various ways of determining coding for end-of-file and end-of-record terminators. [Pg.178]

If you prefer to keep the database records in the order of their entry, you can include a dummy row at the end of the database, and always insert new rows just above the dummy row. You can add new data fields (columns) in exactly the same way. Alternatively, you can use Excel s Data Form to add new records. [Pg.139]

The number of strongest reflections from a database record included in the comparison. [Pg.377]

When there are a few strong reflections in the database record, all should be present in the analyzed experimental pattern. When even one of the strong peaks is missing in the analyzed pattern or it is present but has very low intensity, this match is likely incorrect, unless an extremely strong preferred orientation is possible in either pattern (but not in the both) and there is a legitimate reason for the two to be different. [Pg.379]

There are three types of patent databases of interest to the pharmaceutical industry those that index all patents from one or more countries and/or technical fields without adding significant value to the database records those that provide added value with abstracts or proprietary indexing applied by the database producer and databases that track information about new or approved drugs. [Pg.219]

The report made 21 recommendations regarding such trials, which it would be pointless to repeat here. However, some brief discussion of issues can be attempted. The first is that it was established that there was no global, easily interrogated central database recording serious adverse reactions in first in human studies. The recommendation was... [Pg.402]

The remainder of the Entrez DocSum page contains the paginated list of results of the current search. While the details will vary according to the specific database and report style, information is shown for each record matching the query result. In the case of the example in Figure 12.3, this includes links to the detailed summary page of each item and other Entrez database records associated with those in the current database. [Pg.223]
