Project member

Most of the techniques for determining risk or identifying hazards that are discussed herein require analysis by committee. The committee must be formed from individuals having specific and relevent experience to the chemical process under consideration. Furthermore, the management of this committee is paramount to the success of the project. Members must focus on the problem at hand and continue to make satisfactory progress.

As usual, however, they were also determined pragmatically by factors such as (enterprise) access opportunities and the project members existing knowledge of the particular subject involved.

Standard operating procedures are an integral part of any VMP or QMP. They outline rules that have to be followed during the project and provide project members with guidelines as to which rules have to be studied before starting work.

In the spring of 1945, Captain Jake Nolen told me that a group from Bushnell was to carry out some special studies on a beach in south Florida. He suggested, and I agreed that I go to carry out basic meteorological measurements. Arthur Pardee was to work on a special project, members of NDRC Division 9 were to make measurements of mustard, and some army officers and enlisted men would be there to handle munitions and other matters.

To complete this project, members of each group had to discuss their perceptions of assessment and agree on the representation. We then let the other members of the focus group interpret the movie poster before allowing the designers to discuss their process. The movie posters ranged... 

The administration system AHEAD manages the resources of a design process, which also include the representation of the involved project members. By implementing a connection to AHEAD, information about designers and their contact data is transparently gathered by KomPaKt. Additionally, the documents used in a work session can be identified and used in a conferencing session. 

At this point it is important to make a distinction between two types of multimedia conferences. Planned conferences, e.g. meetings for discussing about intermediate results obtained in the design process, can be modeled as tasks in the process management of AHEAD. Thus, KomPaKt can be initiated, like any other tool, through the work context for a task, directly gathering all documents and contact information of the assigned project members for this task.

Most people working on a given project will be classified as project members. As stated before, this will include scientists and a few non-scientists with expertise in all of the fields required to make the project go. Each one of these brings unique talents to the table that the team needs in order to meet its goal. Only through their joint, interconnected efforts can this happen. Acting separately and in isolation from one another it won t. 

We ve already gone over many aspects of what a project member does and the divvying up of responsibilities between project and line reporting. For the reader who may want to know what s important to a project member s performance, some suggestions follow in Box 4.1. 

In order to conduct the agreed-on validation in accordance with the agreed-on model, it is essential that the roles and responsibilities for the validation activities are decided before commencing the validation. It is all too easy for a project member to assume that a particular part of the validation falls within the role of someone else in the team, and it is only at the end of the project that a gap is revealed in the process.

The equipment purchased for bridge tests and the computer system purchased in the previous period have been totally cleared with the customs. To support the preparation of an FDA audit in the laboratory, it seems reasonable to use a structured inspection model (see Figure 9.1), which categorizes the topics to be inspected, and it allows to distribute the work packages to several project members. All elements of this model have potential influence on the product and result quality and are, therefore, critical to the safety and efficacy of the product. 

Besides, complexity also is enhanced by the dependencies that must be covered during the product life. These dependencies may be existing between the components of the products as well as between these components and external actors such as project members, external documents and so on. 

These discussions highlight the dilemma in which the project members have been in, but also the key role of an early system integration and validation, which are supported by a consistent application of SE.
