There are now approximately 670,000 professional engineering registrations in the United States. Since it is possible to be registered in more than one state, this represents an estimated 402,000 registered individuals of the 1.76 million engineers now practicing. [Pg.55]

The boards of registration typically have five to seven members who are appointed by the governor, usually based on the recommendation of state professional engineering societies. In some of the states, one or more public members or consumers serve on the board. [Pg.56]
