Following is a set of high-level process guidelines for applying refinement techniques. 

Ionization changes can be efficiently corrected with the use of an isotopically labeled IS, which possesses identical ionization response and fragmentation pattem. Therefore, deuterated IS can be used to correct both the overall method variability (e.g., sample preparation, injection, electrophoretic process, etc.) as well as matrix effects since the amount of suppression from interferents is expected to be similar. However, the total concentration of analyte and IS should be below the saturation of the ionization process. Guidelines to obtain a reproducible CE—MS method were published by Ohnesorge et al. and took into account the use of an isotopically labeled IS.

The most common orientation process is used to produce fibres and is described in research disclosures from ICI, academic literature and manufacturer processing guidelines. Melt spun fibres of PEKEKK have exhibited moduli as high as 13 GPa [33]. There are also a number of academic references to oriented material which, as expected, shows enhanced mechanical performance. Techniques such as solid-state extrusion [34] and die drawing have been applied to PEEK and a modulus of 11 GPa has been obtained [35]. Orientation processes are similar to those used for polyethylene terephthalate but there are some key differences in terms of orientation-induced crystallisation [36, 37].

Although a bake will advance the cure, it is unnecessary if a proper lamination cycle is used (although polyimide is an exception check the recommended processing guidelines). As discussed earher, this can be verified by Tg measurements. However, additional baking beyond full cure degrades the material and reduces Tg.
