Private business ownership

Privatization occurs when a company moves a business from the public sector to the private sector. The privatized business must stand on its own with less or no government support. Privatization promotes globalization because acquirers of privatized businesses frequently roll up former state-owned enterprises under a multinational umbrella. Also, privatized companies have fewer restrictions that require them to keep operations inside a country. So they can offshore or outsource more freely. This is ambiguous in places like China, where private companies have majority government ownership. 

From a legal perspective, businesses such as consulting firms, manufacturing companies, and constructors use one of three basic forms of business ownership the sole proprietorship, the partnership, and the corporation. As you move through your career in the private sector, when you are an employee, you may work for all three types of organizations. If you decide to start you own business, various business ownership avenues and scenarios are available. For example, you may begin as a sole proprietorship, then join with others in a partnership, and finally convert to a corporation.

As the healthcare system is extensive and complex, it presents opportunities for different business models to emerge. The possibilities include, emergence of niche providers, patient activation, innovations enabling process automation, shift from resource utilization to final outcomes, reconfiguration for accountability, new technologies such as electronic medical records, bundled payments, new medical devices that necessitate process reengineering, and government vs. private ownership of services and/or payments.
