Powder mold coating

Epoxies Powder, one and two-part liquids and paste Many types of resins available, providing wide spectrum of properties. Easy to compound. Low shrinkage and excellent dimensional stability. Good to excellent adhesion. May be cast or molded. Coatings, sealants, adhesives, solderless PC boards. [Pg.390]

The PEEK resin is marketed as neat or filled pellets for injection molding, as powder for coatings, or as preimpregnated fiber sheet and tapes. Applications include parts that are exposed to high temperature, radiation, or aggressive chemical environments. Aerospace and military uses are prominent. At present, polyamideimide (PAI) resin and poly(arylene sulfides) are the main competitors for applications requiring service temperatures of 280°C. At lower temperatures, polyethersulfones, amorphous nylons, and polyetherimides (PEI) can be considered. [Pg.275]

In confections, starch is used for gelling centers and to provide attractive coatings. It is also used as a dusting powder and as an impressionable bed where candies are cast. To make jelly bean centers, starch is cooked with water, com syrup and sugar. Flavors may then be added, and the fluid is cast in impressions formed in trays of molding starch. Stacks of trays are placed in heated rooms until the candy is dry enough to be shaken from the mold, coated and packaged. [Pg.778]

Manufacture. Due to its low melting viscosity, PBCMO can be easily produced by conventional injection molded procedures. Coatings can be applied by the usual techniques as a solution, dispersion, or dry powder. Heavy coatings to complex metal objects are applied by the fluidized bed method. [Pg.722]

Use Monomer for plastics, molding powders, solvent coatings, adhesives, oil additives, emulsions for textile, leather and paper finishing. [Pg.373]

Properties A linear polymer extremely resistant to chemicals and to thermal degradation at molding and extrusion temperature, d 1.4, self-extinguishing, dimensionally stable, very low water absorption, outstanding chemical resistance. Natural, black, or olive-green molding powder. Finely divided powder for coatings. [Pg.956]

The methyl ester of methacrylic add (CH2=C(CH3)—COOH) is used to produce vinyl polymers used as cast sheets, molding and extrusion powders and coatings, besides being used in various copolymers. Poly(methyl methacrylate) production currently stands at over 2.8 million tons per year on a worldwide scale. [Pg.176]

Thus, FO are acting as adhesion promoters and corrosion inhibitors, whose mechanism can be explained as follows. In the course of thermal molding of powder polymer coatings filled by FO the oxides enter into physical-chemical interactions with the polymer melt. As a result, the oxides are reduced in the surface layer of the particles to metals. This fact is confirmed by... [Pg.231]

Phenolic resins are also extensively used in the binding of foundry molds. Both resol and novolak resins are used for this application. The sand is coated with the phenolic resin at a rate of 3 to 4%. The PF resin can be used both as an organic solvent solution and in powder form. Coating of the substrate can be done both at ambient or at higher temperature. In higher-temperature coatings novolaks are the preferred resins and in this application, waterborne resins (75% resin) can also be used. Hexamethylenetetramine as well as wax are added. Hexamine is often added separately from the resin to avoid precuring. [Pg.559]

External release agents are lubricants, liquids, or powders, which coat a mold cavity to facilitate part removal. Internal release agents can accomplish the same purpose. The identity of the release agent is rarely disclosed, but frequently they are fine fluoro-polymer powders called micropowders, silicone resins, or waxes. [Pg.12]

In-mold coatings with either liquid or powder coating materials are becoming increasingly popular as primers and finish coats for sheet molding compounds and reaction injection-molded materials. In addition to providing decoration and color, in-mold coatings eliminate surface porosity and provide a hard, durable surface. [Pg.820]

A review (16) and a book (17) on the chemistry and properties of poly(ether ketones) have been published. PEEK is present in the market also in reinforced grades (glass or carbon fibers) as well as in yams or in powder for coatings. Fibers are marketed by ICI imder the trade name Zyex. PEEK found application in the transport, teletronics, and aerospace sectors, with the fabrication of injection-molded engineering components and circuit boards. PEEK materials have also foimd a place in medical technologies. For this purpose, their biological and toxicological safety has been certified (14). [Pg.2587]

The resole may be produced as a powder, a solution, or a dispersion. It can be compounded with fillers and other ingredients, cast into a mold, coated on a substrate, or used to impregnate a porous material. The thermosetting step then is carried out at temperatures up to 180°C. [Pg.654]
