Epoxy powder

Powder epoxies Applied as powder either by electrostatic gun or fluidized bed, these materials must be cured at 200-250°C. The coating cures within a few seconds and is normally water quenched to control cure time. They have good resistance to water but will tend to chalk on outdoor exposure. [Pg.131]

Powder polyesters These are similar to powder epoxies but with superior resistance to weathering and less chemical and corrosion resistance. They are used mainly for outdoors-decorative use on equipment, etc. [Pg.131]

Solid epoxy resins are not readily absorbed through the skin and present a low risk of skin irritation. Direct contact with solutions of these resins can cause mild to moderate irritation of the skin and the eyes, principally because the solvents remove the protective layer of fat that is on the surface of the skin. When crushed into a fine powder, epoxies should be considered an irritant dust, and inhalation and skin contact should be avoided. Solid resins are generally considered to be low to mild sensitizers. [Pg.416]

Coated mbing has found most favor. Epoxy paints and powder epoxy coatings should be used. [Pg.167]

Of the five aUoy-tape adhesives, vinyl-phenolic is also available in solvent-based solution and emulsion, liquid, and co-reating powder. Epoxy-phenoUc is also available as a two-part paste. Solvent blends of this material are usually force-dried at 80—90 °C for 20 min before assembly of adherends. Curing is generally for 30 min at 95 °C with contact pressure, followed by 30 min to 2 h at about 165 °C and 0.07—0.4 MPa of pressure. Postcuring provides optimum strength at elevated temperatures. [Pg.141]
