Cranes, portable

All the filter banks are designed so that normal filter replacement can be accomplished by a portable crane and without the need for access to the interior of the celis. In order to prevent the spread of contaminated particulate matter, an exhauster is provided to create a positive sweep of outside air into the cell and through the cell in service when the cell covers are removed. After isolation, the selected frame of filters is withdrawn into a plastic bag and transported to the disposal ground for disposal of the filters and recovery of the frame. [Pg.79]

Small hydraulically operated portable cranes (Fig. 20.9) are available which have an adjustable jib with a lifting capacity typically from 350 to 550 kg on the smaller models and up to 1700-2500 kg on the larger models. The smaller figure is the load capable of being lifted with the jib in its most extended position. In this case the... [Pg.298]

Handbook 44 defines five accuracy classes for scales in terms of the value of the scale division and the number of divisions. Class I appHes to precision laboratory weighing. Class II appHes to laboratory weighing (precious metals, gems, and grain test scales). Class III appHes to the majority of industrial and retail scales, and to all scales not specified in the other categories. Class III L appHes to vehicle, Hvestock, railway, crane, and hopper scales. Class nil appHes to portable scales used for highway weight enforcement. [Pg.329]

Equipment-handling faciUties include any device used to convey or temporarily support equipment, or provide access for plant maintenance, eg, portable ladders, davits, A-frames, monorails, forklift vehicles, and cranes. [Pg.69]

Because of maintenance of flare tip on elevated flares (and even some open ground and enclosed ground flares), crane or helicopter required possibly for access. Connection often needed for backup flare system, i.e., portable trailer flare or other temporary flare. [Pg.87]

Portable tanks, 1000 liter capacity these are made of mild- or heavy-duty polypropylene with a steel frame. The tanks can be delivered filled in a flat bed truck and are useful for medium-sized precast and cast on site projects. A crane or a fork lift truck is usually use to handle these tanks on site. [Pg.545]

Heavy-duty cranes, chain pulley blocks, and portable tripod stands shall be available. [Pg.69]

Initial loading of the equipment Into the reactor Is carried out using the pile cap crane. Subsequent lifting of the machine for repositioning is achieved by the use of a portable winch unit. The machine weighs approximately 35 kgs. [Pg.144]

There are three operations that carry the highest risk of electrocution use of portable tools, striking a buried cable, and cranes and diggers making contact with overhead power lines. [Pg.659]

Portable Hand-Powered Crane. The portable hand-powered crane is similar in design to a small manual-lift truck, except that the load-carrying forks have been replaced by a boom and hook. This equipment is commonly used to move and position work pieces into and out of process equipment where volumes do not warrant a permanently installed hoisting system. It is also frequently found in maintenance and repair shops to assist in the disassembly and reassembly of in-plant equipment. Lifting is accomplished either through a hand winch and cable system or a manually operated hydraulic system. Typical lifting capacities are limited to 2000 lb (900 kg) or less. [Pg.222]
