Popping methods

There are basically two types of popping methods wet and dry. Most processors employ the wet-popping method because it produces popcorn with better flavor. However, dry-popping is ideally suited for production of low-fat products. [Pg.360]

METHOD 3 This is not really a method. It is more of an idea Strike and others have been toying with. Eleusis had been supporting the idea that one could make use of the common 48% aq HBr if one employed the technique of dehydration . We remember that the water was competing with the Br in the normal 48% solution. But the literature demonstrates that in conditions such as this, a competing acid can strip away the water (dehydrate) from the beta carbon allowing the Br a second chance to pop in. [Pg.148]

The methods, which allow in one procedure of analysis to overcome, for example, most pesticides which are used in agricultural practice in the present time, get development and introduction in practice. The contribution of the Ukrainian scientists in field of chromatographic analysis of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs, chlorinated hydrocarbons, PCB s) and supertoxicants, such as PCDDs, is estimated. [Pg.65]

There have been very few method development processes proposed for 2DLC. One study (Schoenmakers et al., 2006) is titled A protocol for designing comprehensive two-dimensional liquid chromatography separation systems. This study advocates that one initially chooses the first-dimension maximum acceptable analysis time, the first-dimension maximum workable pressure drop, and the smallest first-dimension column diameter. The first two variables are then used to construct a Poppe plot (Poppe, 1997)—pronounced Pop-puh (Eksteen, 2007). [Pg.128]

Although the thermal cyclization step in the Gould-Jacobs method proceeds with good yield for simple quinolones, the yields in multisubstituted analogues are low and unsatisfactory. In order to bypass the thermal cyclization step, a second method was introduced in the late 1980s and early 1990s via o-halobenzoic acid derivatives. This method, which is now the most pop-... [Pg.171]

Consider the analysis of a soda pop sample for caffeine by the standard additions method. Construct a graph from the following data and report the milligrams of caffeine in one 12-oz can of the soda pop. [Pg.392]

Research interest in POPs appears to be a relatively recent phenomenon with a dramatic increase in the POPs related publications since 1993. Despite a significant number of research studies most of this is limited to studies of field exposure and analytical methods with few studies on risk assessment, alternatives to POPs or management and disposal techniques. Some participants pointed out that there have been few studies in China assessing the long-term effects of POPs on people or critical ecosystems, studies that would be particularly useful for decisionmakers and for increasing public awareness of the problems posed by such chemicals. [Pg.22]

Missed dose - If the patient is more than 3 hours late or misses 1 or more tablets, she should take a missed pill as soon as remembered, then go back to taking progestin-only pills (POPs) at the regular time, but should use a backup method (such as a condom or spermicide) every time she has sexual intercourse for the next 48 hours. [Pg.200]

This model does not take into account the time value of money, and no consideration is given to cash flows that occur in a project s later years after the depreciable investment has been recovered. A variation on this method includes interest, called payout period plus interest (POP + I) and the net effect is to increase the payout period. This variation accounts for the time value of money. [Pg.30]

To continue the analysis in question 4, consider a nonparametric regression of G/Pop on the price. Using the nonparametric estimation method in Section 16.4.2, fit the nonparametric estimator using a range of bandwidth values to explore the effect of bandwidth... [Pg.80]

A hypothesis can come at any time to a scientist no matter what she may be doing. She could be cooking at a barbeque when suddenly the idea pops into her head. Again, lor emphasis, there is no one prescribed method for doing science. In fact, there are as many ways of doing science as there are people interested in doing science. [Pg.680]

An advantage of the divergent method - which was the first to be developed [1] - is the attainable high-molecular (nano)scaffold architecture as well as the possibility of automation of the repetitive steps. The divergent method is therefore the method of choice for - commercially available - POP AM and PAMAM dendrimers (see Section 4.1). [Pg.26]

As the new monitoring system has been operating only 5 years (2002-2006) until now, it is too early to conduct trend analysis. Here a brief description of the monitoring data by the new POPs monitoring method will be presented. [Pg.12]

The detoxification methods for agricultural chemicals containing POPs, etc. have been verified and these chemicals are properly disposed of by these methods. [Pg.24]
