We have earlier discussed the pyrethroid area of insecticides. A number of ester and non-ester pyrethroid insecticides have incorporated the difluoromethoxy group as a means of widening their biological activity to the control of mites [115], Flucythrinate (Cybolt , Cythrin , Pay-Off ) [116] provides control of a variety of sucking insects, beetles, and lepidoptera in cotton and pome fruits. Later, a close analog, flubrocythrinate, was commercialized [117]. 

Flucycloxuron is an acaricide/insecticide for control of spider mites, rust mites on grapes, pome fruit, stone fruit, and ornamentals. It is also active against Colorado potato beetle larvae and a number of lepidopterous insects. It has an oral LD50 in rats of >5000 mg/kg. 

Quinazoline acaricides are derivatives of quinazoline. Fenazaquin is the only member of this unique class. It is a contact and stomach poison acaricide used for control of all stages of mites on cotton, stone and pome fruits, citrus, grapes, and ornamentals. Its oral LD50 in rats is 134-138 mg/kg. 

Oxazole acaricides are derivatives of oxazole. Etoxazole is an acaricide (growth regulator) for control of mites in citrus, pome fruit, strawberries, nuts, vegetables, and ornamentals. Its oral LD50 in rats is >5000 mg/kg. 

Abamectin is used worldwide in various crops - the most important are citrus, pome fruits, vegetables, cotton and ornamentals (Table 29.6.7). It is used to control most agronomically important mites, some Lepidoptera and dipterous leaf-miners. Typical application rates of abamectin are in the range 5.6-28 g-a.i. ha for control of mites, and 11-22 g-a.i. ha for leafminers.
