The six storage silos each hold 300 Tons of Product This is then discharged from the silos to Dry-solids Transport Trailers, like those used to transport cement and dry chemicals, which carry the fuel to the fuel users. At the user site, the fuel is delivered by pneumatic conveying equipment to storage silos. [Pg.149]

One way to minimize process generated dust from accumulating in the plant is to install an effective and safe dust control exhaust system or upgrade an existing one. Pneumatic conveying equipment and dust control exhaust systems that transport combustible solids and particulate need to be protected from fire and dust explosions. If the concentration of combustible dust suspended in air is at or above the minimum explosible concentration (MEC) and there is a source of ignition, an explosion may occur within the... [Pg.41]

One would expect that an experienced supplier of pneumatic conveying equipment would have more experience-based knowledge on which to design the pipe supports, but that expectation has on occasion proved to be over-optimistic. A prudent engineer would do well to take the highest of any of the values calculated above or stated by the supplier, and allow a safety factor of at least 3.0 to allow for dynamic magnification of the load. [Pg.193]

Purchased rings and pellets are carefully shipped in sealed barrels or in 1-mx 1-mx 1-m fiberglass bags. They are carefully loaded by hand or with pneumatic conveying equipment (VIP, 2012) onto the acid plant s catalytic converter trays. The catalytic converter is then closed up and SO2 oxidation is begun as described in Section 7.6.1. [Pg.96]

Suspended Particle Techniques. In these methods of size enlargement, granular soHds are produced direcdy from a Hquid or semiliquid phase by dispersion in a gas to allow solidification through heat and/or mass transfer. The feed Hquid, which may be a solution, gel, paste, emulsion, slurry, or melt, must be pumpable and dispersible. Equipment used includes spray dryers, prilling towers, spouted and fluidized beds, and pneumatic conveying dryers, all of which are amenable to continuous, automated, large-scale operation. Because attrition and fines carryover are common problems with this technique, provision must be made for recovery and recycling. [Pg.120]

Test facilities are also used to investigate specific attrition phenomena of individual processes. Up to now only a few investigations have been carried out in full-scale equipment. Most results were obtained from very special devices which makes it difficult to compare the results of various research groups and to draw general conclusions. Despite of these difficulties, the specific attrition phenomena in fluidized beds and pneumatic conveying lines will be summarized in the Secs. 5 and 6, respectively. It will... [Pg.436]

Pneumatic Conveying Tests. In contrast to fluidized bed tests, no standard equipment exists that simulates the stress on particles in pneumatic conveying lines. There is no friability test quoted in the pertinent literature that is based on a specific pneumatic conveying system. [Pg.452]

Equipment for solids transport which is usually needed in fluidized bed processes will also add to the overall attrition rate. In screw feeders or rotary valves, the particles can be crushed or sheared between the vanes and the housing. The contribution of pneumatic conveying lines is discussed in Sec. 6. [Pg.455]

Enclosures Enclose room or equipment and place under negative pressure. Enclose hazardous operations such as sample points. Seal rooms, sewers, ventilation, and the like. Use analyzers and instruments to observe inside equipment. Shield high-temperature surfaces. Pneumatically convey dusty material. [Pg.95]

There was no significant damage to equipment in the fire tests, and it was demonstrated that a Jet Airmix mixer may safely handle the mixing of RP formulations on a routine basis. Since a high risk of fire is always associated with any method of transfer of RP, a pneumatic conveying system [dynamic air, two phase positive pressure transfer system was evaluated to load RP into the Jet Airmix mixer. Electrostatic charge measurements were minimal and indicated the system was satisfactory to load the blender. [Pg.166]

Equipment for pneumatic conveying is described in Section 5.2 along with some rules for calculating power requirements. Here the latter topic will be supplemented from a more fundamental point of view. [Pg.119]

The process of sublimation is analogous to the drying of solids so much the same kind of equipment is usable, including tray dryers (Fig. 9.6), rotary tray dryers (Fig. 9.8), drum dryers [Fig. 9.11(b)], pneumatic conveying dryers (Fig. 9.12), and fluidized beds (Fig. 9.13). The last of these requires the subliming material to be deposited on an inert carrier which is the fluidized material proper. [Pg.639]

The flow sheet of this process is shown in Figure 26.2. Prepared plastic fluff is sent to a bag filter set on the top deck (Figure 26.1) by a pneumatic conveyer after treatment by a second magnetic separator and an aluminum separator. Then, the plastic fluff is sent to two series of dehydrochlorinators, specially designed, reciprocally rotating twin-screw-type extruders, through a vertical screw conveyer. This equipment is composed of a melter of plastic fluff aud circulator of waste plastic melt. Each is a horizontal type... [Pg.671]
