Plastic foams pressure-sensitive adhesives

Adhesive tapes Consisting of plastic, plastic foam, metal, paper or textile tapes with or without reinforcement, coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on one or two sides. [Pg.150]

Figure 4.42 shows a cross-section of a PVC foam gasket. The gasket (30) comprises a release liner (40) comprising release paper (42) having a release (preferably silicone) coating (38) which provides a release surface. This release liner (40) has an upper surface which is a release surface. The release paper is about 78 lb., clay-coated, long-fiber, super-calendered, flat, heat-resistant paper. Plastic or polymeric film may be substituted for the paper layer (42). A layer of pressure sensitive adhesive (36) is applied to the release surface of the silicone... [Pg.309]

Uses Mfg. of pressure-sensitive adhesives, self-adhesive coatings for textile fabrics, nonwovens, plastic films, paper, sheet metal, glass, rigid foam plastics, etc. [Pg.1117]

Pressure-sensitive adhesives are specifically formulated for good flexibility, tack, and peel strength. Most pressure-sensitive adhesives are applied to plastic, paper, foil, or fibrous material as suitable backings. Pressure-sensitive tapes are made with adhesive on one side or on both sides (double-faced tape). Double-faced foam tapes are available to suit applications where substrates have surface irregularities, contours, and significant gaps in the bond line. [Pg.462]

Release Paper n A layer of paper which can be readily separated from the surface of a plastic article to which it has been applied or against which the plastic article has been formed. The term applies to papers used to protect the surfaces of plastic sheets, to temporary backings for pressure-sensitive adhesives, and to papers used as temporary carriers in film- and foam-casting processes. See also Transfer Coating. [Pg.622]

Plastic foams. Some solvent cements and solvent-containing pressure-sensitive adhesives will collapse thermoplastic foams. Water-based adhesives, based on styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) or polyvinyl acetate, and 100 percent solid adhesives are often used. Butyl, nitrile, and polyurethane adhesives are often used for flexible polyurethane foam. Epoxy adhesives offer excellent properties on rigid polyurethane foam. [Pg.482]
