Phosphoric Acid Salts

The phosphoric acid salts in fertilizers (calcium hydrogen phosphate, ammonium phosphate and mixtures of different phosphoric acid salts) are dealt with in Section 2.1 Fertilizers. Of the phosphates industrially produced for non-fertilizer applications, the following are discussed below  [Pg.75]

Phosphoric acid salts used in non-fertilizer applications  [Pg.75]

Quantitywise, pentasodium triphosphate [sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP)] is the most important sodium phosphate. Table 1.5-9 gives the capacities for pentasodium triphosphate, which is primarily used in detergents and cleaning agents. [Pg.75]

Most important sodium phosphate is pentasodium triphosphate, mainly used in detergents and cleaning agents [Pg.75]

The reduction in pentasodium triphosphate production in the 1970 s, particularly in the USA, was due to the passing on ecological grounds of legislation reducing the maximum permissible pentasodium triphosphate content in household detergents (Table 1.5-10). [Pg.76]

The hydrophilic parts can contain oxygenated groups (glycol ether types) or amines. The first detergents used amine and phosphoric acid salts or... [Pg.347]

A newer self-intumescent phosphoric acid salt has been introduced by Albright WHson as Amgard EDAP, mainly as an additive for polyolefins. It is a finely divided soHd, mp 250°C, having a reported phosphoms content of 63 wt % as H PO. It appears to be the ethylenediamine salt of phosphoric acid (1 1). Unlike ammonium polyphosphate, it does not require a char-forming synergist (62). [Pg.476]

Aromatic amines form addition compounds and complexes with many inorganic substances, such as ziac chloride, copper chloride, uranium tetrachloride, or boron trifluoride. Various metals react with the amino group to form metal anilides and hydrochloric, sulfuric, or phosphoric acid salts of aniline are important intermediates in the dye industry. [Pg.229]

Treating petroleum oils with 3-5% calcium alkyl salicylate and 0.5-3% triethanolamine salts of phosphoric acid esters and ethoxylated dodecyl alcohol increases oxidation-thermal stability at 180-200°C in the manufacture of oil for metal parts quenching. The agent provides also short-term anticorrosion protection of the hardened articles [261]. Phosphoric acid salt alkyl esters are used in anticorrosives and aqueous dispersions in waterborne polyester coatings for metals [244]. [Pg.608]

The asymmetric hydrogenation of C=N (Eqn. (23)), in contrast with C=0 and C=C bonds, is much less developed. Hexahydrowoquinoline was used as its phosphoric acid salt. Iridium-ferrocenyl complexes were found to be sati.sfactory. After optimisiation, Meyer et al. (1997) were able to realize an enantioselectivity of 89% ee. [Pg.176]

Control of the optical purity of 5 was deemed to be crucial at this point of the synthesis. Crystallization of 1 as its desired phosphoric acid salt with ee below the final desired specification did not upgrade its optical purity and we intended to process 5 to 1 in a through process with only a final isolation. [Pg.104]

Nitrilopyramine is heated with concentrated sulfuric acid for 4 hours on a steam bath, the mixture is poured into ice after which it is made alkaline with 10 normal sodium hydroxide. The pH of the solution is then adjusted to 6 with acetic acid and the solution is washed with toluene. The mixture is again made alkaline with 10 normal sodium hydroxide and extracted with toluene. The toluene is evaporated and the residue dissolved in ethanol and treated with activated carbon. The ethanol is then evaporated and the residue recrystallized from hexane to give disopyramide. The phosphoric acid salt of disopyramide is prepared by reacting disopyramide with a phosphoric acid solution.1 The synthesis pathway is illustrated in Figure 1. [Pg.184]

When phosphine is formed, it decomposes to several lesser known intermediates such as P2H4, a potential alkylating agent, finally forming HjPC (phosphoric acid), salts, and water. In... [Pg.179]

Hydration and Dehydration Reactions. Hydration and dehydration catalysts have a strong affinity for water. One such catalyst is AI2O3, which is used in the dehydration of alcohols to form olefins. In addition to aliunina, silica-alumina gels, clays, phosphoric acid, and phosphoric acid salts on inert carriers have also been used for hydration-dehydration reactions. An example of cm industrial catalytic hydration reaction is the synthesis of ethanol from ethylene ... [Pg.590]

Liquid electrolytes display significant differences in permeability values. For instance, permeation of hydrogen chloride through polyethylene film when diffusing from concentrated hydrochloric acid is detected in a few minutes, whereas permeation of potassium chloride is not recorded even after three months. Permeation of nitric acid through fluoroplastic film is recorded in a few tens of minutes, while it is necessary to wait more than a year for sulfuric acid to be detected [22]. With increasing concentration of the electrolyte its permeation rises. Pol nners whose electrolyte diffusion factor is D < fO m /s are considered to be practically impermeable. Polyolefins, fluoroplasts and polyesters are easily permeable to hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, nitric, acetic and fluorosilicic acids, and ammonium diffusing form aqua solutes. They are less permeable for sulfuric and phosphoric acids, salts and caustic alkali. Phosphoric acid easily diffuses into PVC as well. In this case [23], diffusion of the acid is conditioned by the presence of a plasticizer in the polymer. [Pg.22]

MPA can be metabolized by selected species of bacteria bnt reqnires carefully controlled conditions, snch as restriction of phosphate nntrient (DeFrank and Fry, 1996). It can also be oxidized by SCWO nnder harsh conditions to give phosphoric acid salts and oxidation prodncts of the CH3 gronp (CO, CO2, and H2O). At 550°C and4,000 psi, MPA is >99.9 percent oxidized at 14.4 seconds of contact time. In the presence of excess NaOH, the conversion is rednced to 95.2 percent under the same conditions. ... [Pg.74]

In the absence of a catalytic amount of Lewis acids such as Mg(OTf)2, weak Bronsted acids, such as thioureas, BINOL, and BINOL-derived phosphoric acids, could not promote this reaction alone. The reaction could not proceed with phosphoric acid salts, suggesting that the use of free acid is essential for effective catalysis. The combination of chiral phosphoric acid 13e and Lewis acid Mgp2 (4 1 ratio) was identified to be the optimal catalyst for the AFC alkylation reactions of phenols with p,y-unsaturated a-keto esters, affording the alkylation product in good yields with up to 99% ee. Not only free phenols but also indoles could be successfully applied in AFC reactions with P,y-unsaturated a-keto esters under the binary-acid catalysis (82-94% ee). [Pg.240]

In contradistinction to the thermal process, the cycUzed product remains in solution in the hot PPA, presumably in the form of a solvated zwitterionic phosphoric acid salt such as 24 (Scheme 18.11, n= 1—4). The quinacridone product in its cmde state then is obtained by precipitation when the reaction solution is drowned into an appropriate protic solvent (the equivalent of an acid pasting process). As the properties of the solvents have profound effects on the subsequent polymorphic phase and quahty of the resulting pigments, a specified selection is required for each product code. [Pg.302]

Blending a water-soluble organic or inorganic compound with a superabsorbent polymer has been studied [11]. Organic compounds that can be used are acetic acid salts, formic acid salts, adipic acid salts, citric acid and urea, whereas for inorganic salts, hydrochloric acid salts, sulluric acid salts, and phosphoric acid salts can be used. These additives remain between superabsorbent polymer particles to inhibit contact of the particles, to control gel blocking in blood, and to improve absorbency. [Pg.922]
